What are these buttons?
yeah, that is what I was thinking b/c I think they have them on the '01 GS, but didn't think it was on the RX. It is either that or the telephone. I wonder if that is what the phone buttons would look like if you got the dealer installed option on any RX.

thanks for the info RX300TC, do you happen to know how much the kit costs for the 2000 RX and if it is any good. I heard they were having problems with it. I believe it is based on Sprint PCS.
Don't do it! Even though I don't have personal experience with it, I have heard nothing but bad things about the Lexus phone for the Rex. I too heard about various "problems" and for about $1200 (you have to ask your dealer for actual pricing) I don't think it's worth it. Also, you have to use Sprint, so make sure there is good Sprint coverage in your area.
If you do have a little over $1k to spend, I would get the dealer to offer a money-back gurantee if you find the operation of it unacceptable. I know the RX computer firmware is in fact set up for voice commands, so if the phone does work I guess it would be a cool feature. But pricey.

hmmm, $1200 does sound like a lot - it had better be an awesome set up for that price! I will just continue to wait until it works better. I was somewhat interested b/c I already use sprint service.
LexRX - Just happened to be reading some of the other model forums (got a '92 SC400 myself). As stated earlier, what you pointed out is the hands-free control set. The Lex phone works fine - if you already have it. But I wouldn't run out an get one! Mine was in the car when I bought it (in 1992) and I've got it set up to try my nokia first and if it's not on - it transfers to the Lex phone. This is via Southwest Bell and costs $9.00 mo. When it rings, you touch one button and it lowers audio system volume automatically. You talk with both hands on the wheel and touch the same button when you're finished. The audio returns to it's original volume and all is right with the world. Again - it's pretty cool - but not worth what it would cost today to retrofit.
