Default Rough Idle

My 99 had a full tune-up at the dealers about 6000 miles ago now it's running rough at idle (in gear). Not drasticaly but you couldn't even feel it running before, it ran so smooooth. Any ideas what could have happened before I take it down to the $Dealer$ ?

Default engine idle problem

Has anyone figured out and or fixed the engine vibration problem at idle under a load?

Default engine idle problem

You ask about engine idle problem and in same sentence mention "under load"...

Please explain how car can be at idle and under load???????

Thats like coasting uphill..>?

Quite easily it can be in gear with your foot on the brake

I noticed the same problem as well, when i stopped at a junction, while still engaged on 1st gear (auto),the engine vibrate sound can be felt, more than when the transmission is in neutral position.

Is there any adjustment to be made to reduce it?

Well, i took the trouble to speak to my mechanic. He said to check on 2 things. One, he want to know if your idle speed (in neutral) is too high. Second, get someone to check out your engine rubber mounting.

He will look into my car today. But mine only run 25000km. fairly new.

Kelvin,

my response was not meant to sound GOOFY. I was just trying to explain that your question did not seam clear.

When you said "vibration at idle under load", did you mean, ie: car in drive and foot on brake?

If that is the case, my car also has a slight vibration when engine is cold and foot on brake while in drive and stopped at light. More noticeable if I have used lower octane fuel.

I agree, what u said is correct, how can it be idle yet under load.

I noticed this too just before I tightened the nuts holding the rubber mount on the right side of my car. No more vibration.

One more time...If the engine is running (even at idle) and you have it in gear with your foot on the brake..it is under a load. The car wants to move forward and you are not allowing it...thus it is under a load, granted not a tremendous one but a load all the same.

Turing on the A/C compressor will also add some additional load at idle.
