Default Ect(pwr)

Hi,

I would like to know what is the use of this function button near the transmission shift? In what condition it is use? I can guess the other one, ECT(SNOW).

Thanks.

Default ECT (pwr)

for more performance-oriented driving. Upshifts later (closer to redline).

For those moments when performance supersedes the need for economy, ie: passing...

I use the snow mode during wet weather. Yesterday, we had terrible rain and that mode let the RX run just fine. Felt like I was hugging the road.

For a given throttle setting (how far your right foot goes down), the tranny will shift later (as Fern said, closer to redline). It will also downshift sooner. All this produces a more "eager" feel. It does not produce more power and does have a somewhat deleterious effect on gas mileage (not what I bought any of my Lex for). But I doubt it amounts to more than 1 mpg; your driving style will have more effect than that.

Fwiw, when we had a 300, I left it in PWR (as did wifey); my GS stays there, too. The 330 doesn't have the option (only SNOW mode on the switch now).

Is there a way to get this to automatically come on everytime you start the car instead of having to press the button??.
My car (2004 RX330) drives sooooo much better with it on. The transmission holds its gear and it shifts much better.

durso, did you want the snow mode to be on all the time? all it really does is starts the car from a standing stop in 2nd gear as opposed to 1st gear. in the snow this reduces wheel spin but in the dry it reduces your acceleration ability. you may perceive the transmission as smoother because it is making one less shift. the owners manual says that the snow mode will automatically turn off when the engine is turned off so i don't think you can set it to be on all the time.
