When I start my engine for the first time in the mornings, I hear this high pitched squealling/whining noise for about 5-10 seconds, and then it stops. Any ideas on what it might be?
It's probably the belt. My RX had that issue at one time, but it wasn't very loud. I had the belt replaced and it fixed the problem. On the other hand, our '99 LS has a similar problem but it is louder. The belt has yet to be replaced on the LS yet, but I'm 99% sure that's the problem; just haven't gotten around to going to the dealer.
It's the serpentine belt. The single belt used to run your water pump, alternator, etc. A squeaky belt isn't necessarily something that indicates and belt needing changing other than the fact that it's annoying. My RX had very low mileage at the time and it was replaced under warranty. The LS has done it off and on (mainly on cold cranking in wet weather) for about a year.

Sorry, but I don't have a price estimate.
(assuming the belt is in good condition of course) ...you can spray something called "Belt Dressing" on the belt. It adds a tacky coating to the belt and eliminates the sqeal. A can should cost about $3 at an auto parts store. Try to control the overspray and it should tie you over until the next major maintenance interval.
another cheap trick that u can attempt , start the engine, use a household candle and wax the inner surface of the belt. Should hold for some time. If the sound comes back, try it again. No harm.
