Fuel pump
Fuel pump can fail too, but it is pretty robust as it does not run all the time, but first gen is aging.
Just because it does not run all the time, people can misdiagnose it as broken. There is built in safety, where the pump is disabled if the engine is not running and a special software control to prime up the fuel system as the key is detected. A conclusive test is to measure pressure in the fuel line and flow. [you will need the pressure spec and flow spec]
Another way is to remove the key and lock the doors. Physically move away the key from the vehicle. Disconnect the fuel line [there is a disconnect where the fuel line comes up in the engine compartment [body to engine]. Prepare safety as raw fuel will be pumped up form the line you just opened. Bring the key near and open the lock and stick the key in the ignition and pump should start.
I would shy away from aftermarket pumps as you are not guaranteed pressure and flow.
