Default Can anyone explain this?

So I went to see if I could figure out why my cold air was stuck on. Followed advice I found here. Took off the glove box and it appears that the actuator doesn’t even have an arm connecting to the white lever? How did it even work? If it broke off somehow I can’t find it. Super weird. Any thoughts? I guess si just have to by a new heat actuator …

Laws of nature:
Plastic gets stiff and brittle over time.
If moveable parts are not flexed/used the start binding.

If you have not encountered "mode servo hunting for the right position" you are among the lucky few or your vehicle was not run in Auto mode.

Yeah. I suppose it had to break off. Just weird that the broken arm is not findable. I suppose I’ll try and take this piece out announcer a replacement . Doesn’t look super easy

I'm sitting here looking at the old one I replaced five years ago when I bought my 2001 (currently cleaning out my home office). I did the job myself and t'was not easy. Between the two heater pipes that are partially blocking access to the screws, I put a wooden wedge to slightly - slightly - separate them. You have to have at least a stubby screwdriver (Phillips, I believe). I bought a labwork branded 87106-48020 Air Climate Control Mix Servo Damper on Amazon because paying over $200 bucks ($244 now) for OEM was too much.
