One more normal operation mode is when the engine and transmission are cold. This is how the first gen is designed to warm up faster, Just drive and keep rpm below 3K.

The overdraft stays on but the check engine light it'll come on when the motor gets warm and it'll stay on

Many of the codes will put it into limp mode and prevent shifting into overdrive. Read the codes.
