Flat Emergency key not starting the car
Just a few things, the main key had been lost and I only have access to the flat credit card like key that came with the car. It says to put the key that pops out into the ignition then hold the card up to the ignition starter to disable the anti-theft. This is not working. The blinking light for the anti-theft never turns off.
The car has been in a garage for 1.5 - 2 years and I know that the battery is dead and may be a cause of the car not turning over. We had a heavy duty jump and everything seemed fine, but the key still wouldn't let the car start. Is this due to battery issue or should the key be able to work while getting a jump?

You need the "chip" magnetic slug to enable the imobilizer. See details in "Having Problems start here" sticky thread.
My understanding is that in the first gen the card does not have the "chip" in it.
