I'm replacing a vapor canister assembly on a 99 rx300. I notice the original one had some sort of check valve spliced into the line. The vapor pressure sensor is different too. The original had a single nipple with a line going to it, the new one has a second nipple right by it. Any guidance how how to hook up the new one? Check valve T'd into it.
As per TSB EG001-99 from April 1999 it was replaced by 77740-48030
Some parts sites doing a VIN lookup said it was 77740-48011
I used the 77740-48011
Did you do the canister diagnostic before ordering a replacement?
According to the dealership, that is the right canister, and it appears to all be correct. The only thing that is different is the vapor pressure sensor. However, the part number off the old one was superceded by the new one, but the physical design is different. I also went to a part store and had them cross reference the original one, and the one they pulled up looked like the new version.
And that is what has me thrown off. Do i have to transplant the check valve and T off the old one? Or instead of the vehicle connecting to that blue check valve, does it connect to the 2nd nipple on that new vapor pressure sensor? (The old one has one nipple, the new one has two)
I don't recall any issues when I changed mine. Pretty sure it was an exact replacement.
I don't understand the old valve, with a single nipple. If that's the input where is the output? Has to be just open air
If that's the case a direct swap would probably be just connect your single tube to one of the nipples, and leave the other one open.
EDIT: My bad, it's not a VSV. Maybe you just need to cap one of the nipples.
