Can try dumping in a bottle of Lucas (don't drain any fluid out first) see what happens. Too bad you can't drive the car to a transmission shop. If Lucas revives the transmission to an extent it means the clutches are gone. From what I've read a mechanical failure (gears) is most common.
Doesn't sound too promising.
You mentioned it wouldn't roll off the tow truck backwards. I was just curious if it would roll forwards in neutral.
Yes it wouldn't roll at all. He jacked one wheel off (front driver) and then others would move a little as he pushed it.
I parked it in a hillside next to my house. Putting it in R, N, D, does nothing. Its like cemented to the ground.
I am taking all your advice, and not just sending it to the repair shop. I am speaking to my regular shop and another one, while we figure out what to do to move forward.

Interesting trans fluid is beautiful red. Its to the line. Motor oil is excellent also. Checked it all. No leaks underneath no issues.
To me I am thinking its the mechanical gears, only because of the way its acting. I have had MT cars all my life, and even a dead clutch I could get it to move. This just happened suddenly.
Question:
If I plunk down $2800 for this https://parts.longolexus.com/oem-par...e-305104802184 do we know how long these last? If they are same design, do we know if they will go a 100K miles, or dead after 1 year? Any thoughts or experience would be appreciated.

The site says 12months warranty. No body knows when they fail. I have seen folks report early failure on a well maintained and then on the other extreme is my experience with no issues.

Thank you Salim ! I always appreciate your help.
My thoughts are spending $6k to fix it (15 hour book time is what I am hearing), and if it dies in 2 years versus putting 6k in Vanguard and in 36 months buying a small used Honda Fit for kids first car.
I had wanted to save the RX. But the money eqyation doesnt seem to be doing any favors.
Locally all the jdm transmissions are about $1100 used.
Going to sleep on it another night.
Given not drivable - if I don't fix- may have to donate it.
Easy to check watch the transmission selector under the hood while someone moves the shift lever. The 4th gen ES has a problem where the shifter bushing fails and the cable falls off.
