Default Help with rear spoiler.

2015 with 56k miles. Never had an issue with the spoiler until the other day. I have a carbon fiber spoiler. The spoiler no longer goes up at all. I can here the motor but nothing happens. If I turn active wing off I can raise the spoiler by hand. Turn active wing back on. It will go down just fine when I push the wing button. Just won't go up. I took the cover off to see what might be going on. Immediately two washers and a nut fell in the trunk. It looks like it goes to what I circled in the picture. That bolt looks like it might be broken. Any thoughts? I swear there was a plastic piece over it. Wonder if it fell straight down.

I believe that's the spoiler motor. The washer fits perfectly over it as it's not not flat. The nut can't thread on to anything. That's why I thought the bolt broke.

Zoomed out of trunk area

Strange how it would just fall out. Please keep us posted. I have a 2015 myself and the spoiler getting stuck is a concern of mine.

That is very odd.

I suspect that the bolt has probably been loose and backed itself out after having the nut fall off.

My initial thought was the nut was overtorqued and the bolt eventually sheared it off over time but if that was the case the remainder of the bolt would still be in the nut.

My advice is disassemble the whole spoiler and investigate further.

Really odd. I've never touched the motor. The spoiler was put on two years ago. I just wonder what that exactly does. The spoiler will go down just fine but not up. It's not getting stuck like you see most of the time. I'll just have to take the spoiler off and take that motor out. Agreed, I'd expect the broken bolt to be in the nut. It was nowhere to be found. I have a subscription to lexus support manual and cannot find a picture of the motor that's worth anything.

Now I'm confused. I'll definitely have to take it apart. The plastic part I was talking about looks like the cover. However the picture does not show a nut or washer. That washer has to go there. It fits perfectly. Even the groove.

With cap on

Cap off, what I see.

I forgot to update this thread. I was able to fix it. I should have taken pictures I'm sorry. There is a metal cover over what looks to be spindles on the bottom. That was hanging off. I put it back together and tapped the tabs with a rubber mallet. You cant see this part, as its on the bottom of the motor.

One washer went on the inside then one on the outside followed by the nut. I used techstream to run a re calibration of the wing as it would go down right away after I manually had it up by using the button. After calibration everything is working.

one of the washers under the nut. Don't have a picture of the washer that was on the inside

You need a specific kind of cable and the tech stream software. It's used for technicians to analyze vehicle data plus other things.
