Facts. Best Motoring was a Japanese Top Gear show of sorts and they tested 2 EVO VIIIs in a slalom course...one stock and the other with a 10lbs mat on top of the roof. Let's just say the performance gap was evident.

RCF has been around since 2014 and never have read anyone having issues with TVD. I am 100% sure there won't be any issues with it.

Ah OK...out of thousands, congratulations you managed to find one (in a GSF). I have seen the thread before. It is known to be tied to problematic batteries. I got this same error on mine when my battery was dying (and many other system errors). When I replaced it with the AG Lithium Ion battery, never had the error before or after that. You are trying to make something out of nothing.

You're the one who said you've NEVER read about failures, now you say you've seen it. (the GSF and RCF use the same TVD). And I am not trying to do anything. I think its worth getting the warranty (if you get it at the right price) if it helps you sleep better at night. I mentioned other potential issues: oil consumption, delamination of CF (interior), ML amp failure, rear wing failure, another common issue with Lexus (many have the same mechanism) is the window rattle/noise when the window is all the way up, sevos in the HVAC systems have failed.

While I agree with your second part of the statement, getting extended warranty is totally understandable if it helps someone sleep better at night, but there is no evidence there was any failure of TVD that had to be resolved by the dealership. Even that one single evidence you posted, had nothing to do with malfunction of TVD. I experienced it myself. There are motors, gears, differential etc. and never any problems every reported on it. That error in the gauge cluster was merely about a failing battery causing systems issues in the car to go berserk. A TVD failure where the dealership had to take a look at it and Lexus Japan got involved to resolve it? ZERO evidence at this point that has ever happened.

So that TVD warning light pic was due to battery failure and not because of the TVD...but was posted as if it was a TVD failure?

That smells like a brothel in a hot summer day.....rather fishy (giggity goo!)

Correct. Had on mine as well. My OEM Panasonic battery was failing so it would act up randomly. I had the same TVD warning pop up on my gauge cluster as well randomly come up. I replaced the battery with the AntiGravity Lithium Ion and never had the issue in 5+ years of ownership.

There’s a 99% chance you won’t have a problem with TVD.

IDK what that means, but i do think a warranty is worth having (if its at the right price with the right company). Its simple to say, hey its a Toyota nothing wills go wrong, but things do go wrong. heck we still don't even know if the valley plate leak will be an issue with these cars. There already been one reported case, and Raffi at RR Racing seems to think these engines will suffer from the valley plate leak as well. well see...
