Default Invidia axle back only

I bought invidia catback weeks ago, and installed it last week. I feel vibration from cabin, and I talked with Rolla and Nigel about my feeling after exhaust installation, they shared me a lot of information. I appreciate their helps.

I start thinking I'm over-sensitive and it's normal to feel some more vibration from aftermarket exhaust.
I went to Lexus dealer this afternoon, talked with technician from dealer, he said he felt increased vibration too but there was nothing he could do.

I'm going to swap OEM exhaust back, but I still have one question, does Invidia axle back fit with OEM mid pipe?

Sorry to hear that. There is definitely something wrong with your exhaust somewhere. As I had mentioned before, there should be no vibrations introduced due to Invidia.

Anyway, I believe OEM mid-pipe will fit with the Invidia axle back as I have seen people do that. The mid-pipe diameter is 2.75 inches while the OEM exhaust is around 2.0 inches, but where the joint between axle back and mid-pipe happens, you can make it work.

Thanks Rolla, I'll ask installer to swap the mid pipe for me !

Did you install yourself or had a shop do it? Sorry you’re getting vibrations. I got mine installed by myself almost 3 weeks ago and no vibrations. I admit my initial instinct was to tighten the nuts and bolts as I got them on but read on here to don’t tighten everything yet until they’re all bolted on and then align + tighten.

Thanks for the info, glad you don't have the issues! I asked a performance shop to do the job. They didn't do it right at first time and exhaust was touching some metal part, then they re-aligned it.
Now after 2k / 3k rpm, I get roaring feeling from gas pedal and driver floor. And also the vibration from steering wheel / and other parts 😂.

Damn, that sucks about the vibration from steering wheel and other parts! Hopefully, at this point, all you can do is laugh at the situation. Hopefully, going back with stock will not cause the vibration anymore. What's your next plan with the Invidia catback? Use the axleback with the OEM midpipe?

The stock mid pipe will not bolt onto the Invidia axle backs. It simply won't fit because it's different diameter.

If you are looking to put on just a mid pipe you'd be looking at Apexi or GT Haus or the likes which would bolt onto the stock axle backs.

Definitely not normal for the vibrations. If I had vibrations like what you described to me I wouldn't find that acceptable. Are you at all able to take it else where? Something just seems off. I could understand if this was a common thing but honestly I've never seen another person mention any type of vibrations in the gas pedal from installing an exhaust. Which makes me strongly believe that something is vibrating/touching and it's resonating into the something else.

Hope this gets works out for ya!

Sorry to hear that OP. I just installed my Invidia catback myself. It took me the majority of the day to do in my garage on 4 jack stand. But I can report, I have no issues, I'm shocked a shop had issues installing this. This is a pretty straightforward and simple bolt on modification. If you know how to twist a wrench, I would say get a refund and try to do it yourself. I've only put about 500 miles on mine since install, but no squeaks, rattles, or any other crazy noises. I hope you get it resolved quickly.

The vibrations make no sense honestly. I also had a metal on metal squeak sound initially, but all I had to do was bend a heat shield slightly with my hand. Vibrations like you're describing would come from engine mounts or upgraded suspension bushings, not the exhaust itself. Did you have headers installed also? I'd just have the exhaust shop check the alignment again. Sadly not enough places pay attention to details when doing jobs like this.

Thanks Nigel, I'll check it one more time and ask another muffler shop to re-align the exhaust this afternoon. Hopefully it works.
If it doesn't, like you mentioned, probably I will try another axle back exhaust!

Thank you guys, I'll visit another shop this afternoon. A different technician may have different idea / skills. I'll ask them to loose the bolt and re-align the exhaust then re-tighten up bolts.

Just read Nigel's post, it seems like the oem mid pipe doesn't fit with invidia axle back exhaust. I may try diff exhaust if this doesn't work for me..

Thanks for the advice, currently I don't have header and no other modifications. I'd go to another shop this afternoon. The good thing is, it is not an expensive issue😂.

Looks like the exhaust was not aligned properly. Aligned like explained above, takes a lot of expertise since you need to make sure there are clearances in places. To me, it looks like something is touching the chassis especially close to the headers that is propagating the vibrations to the chassis and hence it gets to the throttle or steering. I would say, try it with an expert exhaust shop. Also, ask them to put sealant between the exhaust joints as it makes sure the exhaust connections are properly sealed.

I went to exhaust shop this afternoon, they couldn't find any issues except the flex joint bolt a little bit loose. After visited them, I drove my car for 1h, I think I found the issue.
The first issue which was causing me feet numb was alignment issue. But all vibrations from gas pedal and driver floor are not from alignment, it was from drone vibration. No one mentioned drone from Invidia, I believe most people are driving in Sport+ mod. And Sport+ mode hold rpm at > 2k rpm. I was using normal mode in past few days and cruised most time, so my rpm was at 1.5k to 3k, and drone happened between 1.5k to 2k I believe. I gonna use Sport+ to avoid this issue, I just went out and drived with Sport+ for 40 min, no more issues. And when we cold start our car, the rpm pumped up to 1.5k to 2k range, I feel same thing.

Thanks guys, finally I could find the issue.
The only thing I'm going to do is adjust right muffler tips location. It almost touches bumper, only has 0.1 inch clearance...

Good to hear you find some resolution there. I still am surprised why the vibrations happen albeit in NORMAL mode. Then again, I have never driven in NORMAL/AUTO mode. I admit I only use SPORT+/MANUAL mode. However, if the engine is lugging (tall gear/low rpm/high load) then there could be some potential drone. Also, on cold start I don't feel any vibrations, if that helps at all.

I’m glad you are able to resolve your issue but I’m not sure why you’re still feeling vibration in normal mode at lower rpm as mentioned. I do drive it in sports +/manual mode but I also drive in normal and eco mode as well too, especially when city driving or when I just want to cruise and I don’t notice any vibrations. I just started my work week so I’m taking my truck to work but I’ll have to pay attention when I drive the car again and report back.
