I’ve been running a version of the Loi tune since September 8th of last year. The first tune file i loaded up did not play well with my car so I sent Loi some logs and he sent back revised tunes. Probably went through 5/6 revisions until we landed on the one I have today. At one point we reduced power so much that I made less than stock tune haha. I say all that to point out that I run a really turned down version of his tune.
Car mods:
103k lovely miles
ppe equal length headers
invidia exhaust
Custom intake (cone filter from takeda intake, heat shielding from the aem intake, performance mrp billet aluminum maf housing with air straighteners, and MIJ titanium elbow
tune info: stock tune was done in 60 degree weather with KCLV below 4k at 22.3 and above 4k at 20.1
Loi tune was dyno’d today in 100 degree weather. KCLV below 4k was 21.3 and above 4k was 20.3
All runs were done using the terrible 91ACN octane fuel and on the same heat breaker Mustang Dyno. My elevation is 2800 feet
The car was still increasing KCLV with each run, im sure we could have gotten a higher peak power. But gains all over still. Will dyno again when its cooler out or when i blend 25% Ethanol
Random tune facts. The original Loi tune runs more timing than my version, has a 7500 red line, and secondary intake is always open if you run aftermarket intake. My tune is much less aggressive, keeps factory 7300 red line, and has secondary intake open at 2800 rpm.
I beat on my car in 100+ degree weather and can still get a high 19s or 20 KCLV above 4K on the Loi tune. With the stock tune i used to see around 17.5 during summer here in Arizona.

Mustang dyno is known as the "heartbreaker dyno" and the high altitude and the cr*ppy fuel all mean the 418 whp is on the lower side considering your mods, but good to see that the car is running well.
I also did RR racing ECU tune recently and it is the same type of idea. It has similar type of gains. A lot of midrange torque gain (around +17 ft lbs of wheel torque) with about +7 whp gain at the top rpm. I am very happy with it. Have not dyno'ed it yet, but I plan on doing some draggy runs.

i agree. Sea level at lower temps will net better numbers.
but it looks like gains across the band. No huge losses. KCLV is good…
As long as you’re running an optimum a:f ratio and smoother out the power band with better response…I think the tune did what it was supposed to do.
don’t worry about the numbers too much. dynos are like ‘ginas….everyone is different…just get a good baseline lol.
Loi sure heats up that low end torque. Lol. Real nice bump in that area. It's interesting how each car can respond quite differently to a tune. An "off the shelf tune" will not often guarantee you similar performance as advertised.

Well everyone’s set up is also going to vary as well. Different intakes/filters, exhausts, fuel quality, weather and elevation, etc. still impressive numbers.
How does one get in touch with Loi? This is my only form of social media so contacting him on FB or IG is not in the cards for me. I'm wanting to run nitrous and from my understanding, he is the only one who can turn our cars with N2O.

He definitely recommends having some kind of heat shielding. Building a custom setup was cool. I went through 3 other setups including a 6 to 3.5 inch velocity stack and different size filters. After logging maf readings, they all sucked in a lot less air. Afe power with the inverted cone performed 48 to 51.8.lb/min the others all did around 35 lbs/min. Cool learning experience that bigger isnt always better .

Thanks. Did you test the dry AFE filter or the wet one? I have the wet one as part of my AFE Power Takeda CAI. Supposedly, it gives a bit higher flow rate than the dry one.

the one i tested was the dry filter version. I heard about the oiled filters flowing more too. Would be cool to know how much more.
The bigger filter didnt have the inverted top. Maybe they have one that does but im not sure. Luckily the afe filter that came with the takeda fits 3.5 outer diameter pipes so the maf fits in there perfectly.
