will titanium setup sound different
hello all. I have a fuji edition, with PPE EL headers, custom none resonated midpipe, and the stock axel back which is titanium. I am not planning to change the factory axel back. my current setup sounds perfect, especially with the addition of the PPE EL headers, the car sounds very sharp and not too loud when driving normal, surprisingly i have 0 drone. my question now is, if i change my mid pipe to titanium, which will give me a titanium setup from the midpipe till axel back, will it change the sound of the car make it more distinct, i have read in several places that a titanium set up sounds different, while others say wont make much of a difference, is the investment worth it to change the midpipe to titanium or there won't be much of a difference sound wise.
Titanium does have a different sound than s/s or the stock piping. The stock mufflers are not loud, so don't expect some earth shattering noise or tone difference by switching to a Ti mid pipe. It will be louder for sure, because you are eliminated the resonators and secondary cats (most likely), however since you already have the resonators removed the loudness will probably be very similar to what you have. The biggest thing you'll gain is the weight loss by switching to a Ti midpipe. Absolutely worst case you don't like it and sell it for close to what you paid. Mid pipes go pretty quickly when they are forsale.
If you are spending $3k+ for a Ti midpipe thinking it's going to be a completely different sound you are going to be disappointed. If you are looking at it from shedding weight then that would be more practical.

Yes it will sound different and its noticeable. I had titanium exhausts on my other vehicles.

Agreed. Titanium has a different tone/pitch to it than stainless steel. Titanium is lighter and thinner (I believe) so it has different resonance properties than that of stainless steel. Titanium will tend to sound more "hollow" and "resonating" (or gargly for the want of a better word) while stainless steel tends to sound more deeper and bassy, I only have titanium muffler tips on my full catback, but it has a very unique sound. I have not heard the SS version so I am not sure if it sounds any different, but probably that unique sound in part might be due to the titanium muffler tips.
