Does anyone think it'll be possible to retrofit the touchscreen infotainment from the 2021 IS into an RC? The interior of the new IS is a lot more similar to the RC, with the repositioning of the center console controls, similar trim pieces, etc., so I was thinking it would be a fun experiment to see if it would work, and I know there's a few threads out there where people have upgraded their smaller IS screen to the bigger OEM screen from the 2017-2020 IS. My current Chinese Android head unit just bricked on me, so I'm looking at OEM options now lol. Thoughts or opinions?
I'm no expert, but I casually looked into it and my understanding is the wiring differences are a really big deal which is why the Android units plug into existing wiring. I believe some of the wires aren't sold individually so you need entire harnesses and it's a severe pain.
You can't just replace the screen, gotta do the whole infotainment system including the TouchPad believe. I think it's doable using the 2018-19 RC F which have a bigger screen, but not sure about the newer ones that have AA and I think a different center console.

yeah the newer RCs wiring may be more closely related/exactly the same as the new IS so retrofitting might be simple. But sadly I have a 2015 lol

if there was a junked 2021 IS, I’d experiment with it all day to see what exactly is needed. Do you know if a retrofit is more than just pulling the radio, touchpad, screen, and their wires (and maybe AC controls) from a newer system and directly swapping it? Or are the wires from other parts of the car (speakers, backup cam, other CAN Bus stuff) also different?
