Default Negotiating a 2021 RC F

Hi All, looking at a new 2021 RC F in blue (black interior) with premium package, Nav/ML, and triple bean headlights. Are dealers negotiating much on these like they were a few years back or is there not a ton of movement on price? If yes, what are some common discounts folks are seeing?

I'm a bit conflicted on the RC F as a two door. I love having my pup join on rides but I am sure he can get used to the rear "seat" if I can find a decent deal.

Well, I do know that the car market isn't doing too good right now, nor has it been for the last year. I would imagine they probably won't negotiate that much. I would also imagine that nigel821 might be able to help on that subject, as he recently bought a 2020 Track Edition.

As for the RC F being a two door, there is the GS F which makes the same power and same torque, basically everything, its only about 100 pounds heavier. Plus, it came standard with a TVD. You can find a 2020 GS F for around 68-74k. They stopped making them this year, sadly.

Not the same. The RCF actually has 472 HP vs 467 HP in 2020+. Also ,the differential is different with a 3.13:1 on the RCF. The GSF and RCF are the same width, but the GSF is 1 foot longer so the aspect ratio of the two cars is quite different. The chassis/suspension setup was also stiffer on the RCF.

I would think there is some room to haggle.
TE/Fuji had rebates of $5k and plenty of them are still sitting forsale.
I would try to offer $10k off msrp and work from there to see where you can end up.

I recently sold my 20 TE, it had Ceramic tint and Stek full clear bra. 5k miles, showroom condition and never driven in the rain.
It was on Autotrader for 5 months not 1 hit untill last week wholesale guy from Texas offered $80k. I was already shooting it around to a bunch of local wholesalers and dealers at that point to take advantage of the $7-8k in tax savings if I traded it in for a new vehicle.

Lexus Bellevue $80k
Lexus Seattle didn’t want it
Porsche Bellevue $74.5k first offer but gave me a bad taste so didn’t pursue any more $$ for offer.

I ended up getting $89.5k from another local Porsche dealer after getting a few bucks off a new GT4. Car has been sitting there for 3 weeks with no interest.

Hope that helps give you a idea on values & the current market.

Well yeah, true. I keep forgetting the 2020 RC F got 5 extra horsepower and 5 extra torque, and that the differential ratio changed. Thanks for the reminder.

Anyhow, they are pretty close so OP, take what he said.

I would believe you can get a good deal on a 2021 RCF & Lexus is giving $3000 cashback on them. They seem to be sitting on dealer lots for awhile. This could change because plants in Japan are temp closed because of the earthquake. I have been trying to trade my 2019 RCF on a 2021 LC500 & the dealers are offering below KBB. Some dealers are not even interested in them they do not sell.

Dealerships always give black book value. Not blue book value. Simply because they need to make a profit on the car as well. If they pay you KBB then they have no profit margin left to sell to the next buyer. Also, your RCF is just two years old and unfortunately, the biggest hit is in the first two years.

I have sold 3 cars in the past 18 years and privately I got well above what dealerships were willing to pay. As a matter of fact, I kept my RX400h for just 1.5 years and sold it a few months ago privately with $3000 more in my pocket than I purchased it for.

I have traded many cars & the dealer gave KBB trade in value which still left them plenty of profit. Not with a RCF they will not even give black book value. They do not want a car on their lot which will sit for awhile.

I guess, I would respectfully agree to disagree since I have never seen that. I do agree that a niche low volume product like RCF sits for a while on the lot. Only scenario where the dealership really is desperate to make a sale on the next car, they entice the buyer by offering a good trade in and think of the sale as the offset for the loss in money.

However, logically the dealership selling above the KBB makes poor business sense. They need to spend the time/money to recondition the car as well including doing the 150 point inspection and if needed, putting new tires on it etc. If the dealership offers KBB value and spends the money reconditioning the car, they are selling at a loss. Maybe, that is what happens, but they cannot be breaking even as per the math. No buyer ever pays above the blue book value. We know how we haggle and negotiate.

I have owned a lot of cars over the years from Toyota, Honda and Lexus etc.

My Lexus cars have been the hardest to sell and I always try private sale first before pursuing trade in. In Wa we get tax credit on trade value so that is a big part of the deal. The Lexus cars take huge hits in value wether it’s 2 years or 4. The more ya spend the more you lose especially on Luxury type vehicles.
I heard from a lot of people that said they didn’t wanna gamble buying my TE as they are very hard to sell.

OP look around at a few dealers and start low and see where you end up. If the numbers work for you buy the car. They are a well built. & dependable cars that basically require minimal maintenance. If I had the room to keep my TE I would’ve but Iam outta garage space.

That is interesting feedback, I had to spend way too much time in the San Antonio Lexus getting my used RCF, so I spent time small talking people at the dealer when I got bored, they have a new track edition there, I asked if anyone ever comes by that is interested, they answer "not really". I asked if they thought it would sell, they said they weren't hopeful, I guess it is a halo type car meant to drive interest and they are probably given to or at least offered only to certain dealerships as a reward for sales performance or something.

Maybe in Canada, but down here they can offer KBB trade in value & still make a profit. Example I just traded in my RX350 for a 2021 RX450h they gave me over KBB trade in value & sold it for $2100 profit. The dealer did a quick wash & it was on the lot right away. Plenty of profit not much time on prep.

In this case, they were selling you a volume selling car and have many sitting on the lot. That goes back to them really being motivated to sell the car by giving you a good deal on your trade-in.

Whether they sold your trade-in for a $2100 profit, which is well above the average market price, hard for me to comment without some documented evidence on it.

No your wrong again not many on dealer lots, inventory of 2021 RX450H was very low. In fact this was a 2021 RX450H black line edition they had to bring in from another dealer, very few on the East Coast. By the way I do not bull****.

Edit: I will bow out. I fail to see why anyone would want go through the hassle of private sale then. I don't want to derail the OP's thread anymore.
