Temp sensor for climate control? If it is that, there will be one on passenger side too I would think.

My guess it is for interior chime so the sound doesn’t come thru as muffled.

From what I have searched on this, it is where the interior temp sensor is located for the climate control.

Dash vent blow HVAC air out, this vent draws air in for the interior temp sensor.
Some models also have a humidity sensor which is on the upper windshield by the mirror strut.
