What's the point of this service? Seems kind of odd they don't really do anything besides a basic inspection.

 

Since the car is breaking in and is almost brand new, the first inspection is done to check if there are any factory faults surfacing after 1k miles of driving that did not show up during the factory inspections. Since you are under warranty, I would recommend getting it done. Not worth the risk by skipping.

 

No I know, I already had it done and it's included anyways. Just seems weird just do to an inspection. My e92 they did an oil change at 1200 miles.

 

The reason I stated above. It is a Lexus so it could be the quality standards, which is why BMW did not do it on your E92 (M3?). Some issues don't surface until the car has been driven for some decent miles and that inspection is supposed to spot those. That is probably why they do it for free.

 

I have never had a 1K inspection & service done. I have been buying new cars since 1962
