Good luck, I think looked at wheels for an eternity before deciding. What I wanted and could afford where very different.
You don't want to get a wheel that is inferior quality to our stock BBS wheels, so generally it puts you in that $4k-$5k per set with tires range (and up). That's a lot of scratch to change the look. There are some offerings from Volk, SSR, Brixton Forged and a few others that I like, but once I price out the wheel and tire packages the stock setup looks better and better.
I'm so tempted to get my original rims blasted and coated black to match the anniversary edition, but part of what I don't like about them is how difficult they are to detail with all the spokes they have. I'm in the same boat where spending $4k on a new set seems like a huge investment which for me is mostly for aesthetics.

I hear you!
For me springs and wheels are the most important mods. If I loved the stock wheels, I would not spend money on a new set. I already have some Savinis, but not quite happy with them either...I like concave and wheels with lip, but I guess the RCF contructions don’t invite to that since few have them?
Well, I keep looking, no stress, plenty of time to look, and it is not like it is horrible today either..:-)
I might end up doing rear diffuser and other stuff instead.

I got lucky and purchased a set of Forgelines for my IS F. When I sold it and bought the RC F, I had them refinished and changed the centers out for a different design with a more aggressive offset to match the new car. Here's what it looked like on the car. They aren't the best pictures, but I can tell you that some quality wheels, as people have mentioned before, really make a world of a difference long term IMHO. I like the step-lip design for the look and sturdiness it provides.
