I recently purchased an invidia cat back system which I’m very impressed with but shortly after install I got a CEL show up, I took it back to the shop and explained to them after researching online the common problems are:
- exhaust leak at the gaskets right after cats to mid pipe
-O2 sensor issue (damaged)
-twisted wires on the O2 sensors
The shop did install the system using the gaskets supplied from invidia. Yesterday I took the car back to the shop the guys were super helpful they hooked up an OB2 reader and pulled the code (P0430 catalytic bank 2) they readjusted the gaskets reseated the 02 sensors and untwisted the wiring, so right now I’m on the waiting game to see if the CEL comes back.
I’m also aware it can take up to 4 drive cycles for this code to repopulate.
My questions, are these the only possible things to consider/check?
Did all of you guys running the invidia system use the supplied gaskets? Or purchase different ones to use?
The shop told me I may need a tune to correct this issue or go to lexus to see about a TSB for tolerance in the readings.
I’m willing to take the car to the dealership if necessary but seems ridiculous for a simple cat back install.
At this point I just want to just enjoy the new exhaust without worrying about the CEL any advice would be greatly appreciated.
I have had Invidia full catback exhaust on since April and ZERO problems. Nothing, but perfect. The burnt blue titanium tips are holding up extremely well.
I took it one of the most well reputed exhaust shop in my area and they did a phenomenal job. Took half an hour to install. The only trick is, the two gaskets are different size. One is slightly smaller than the other. You have to make sure you put the correct one on the correct side. It is not very noticeable, but if you put the wrong size gasket, it will cause an exhaust leak (and CEL). I think that might have happened in your case. The stock gaskets can also be reused as far I remember.

05RollaXRS are you describing the two gaskets between the header manifold and mid pipe? If that’s the case I’m not sure if the shop new those gaskets were different sizes...

The size difference is very small and not easy to tell by naked eye. The installer needs to make sure he checks which one goes on which side. If the wrong one is put on then it causes an exhaust leak.
^^^^Don't hold your breath waiting for an answer. The OP has four posts in two threads all asking for advice. Lots of folks come here ask a question, get their issues solved and are not heard from again unless another problem pops up that they can't solve on their own. I'm betting his issue is solved.
Invidia is an incredible exhaust. I view it as the best exhaust for the RCF under $2000. Bottom line, if you carefully install especially with the sensor and the correct front/back gaskets (or get it installed by a pro exhaust shop), it will not give you any issues whatsoever.
