I was doing some spark plug research today and found something very unusual. The IKH01-24 plugs are 4 steps colder than the OEM spec 20 which gives me pause for a daily driver. TRD Japan lists an IKH01-22. Only 2 steps colder. Might be a better choice for our street driven cars.
Are you going to try the TRD version which is only 2 steps colder or the Denso IKH01-24
They're pretty close to the same money. I think the TRD plugs would be better suited to my application, but regardless, they're not going to live as long as the OEM plugs if you're street driving. I just bought a set of Denso OEM plugs from Advance Auto for less than $70 with local pick up (in stock). It's really, really hard to justify $245 for plugs I might be unhappy running. Maybe if I had an extensive track schedule this year, but I don't right now. Lottery hasn't been my friend!
Beside all that, I just dropped $1060 for the parts to do the cam chain replacement to get rid of my start up ticking noise. But oddly enough, when the wife started the car a couple of days ago, I clearly heard an exhaust tick, so I have to decide what to do next with that too. The bane of higher mileage is getting frustrating, but it's hard to complain when I haven't had a car payment for more than 7 years and haven't had to spend any significant money on repairs of any kind.

I didn't do much research on plugs yet but will be swapping them out before winter. What's the consensus on the best plugs for normal street use (day to day driving with a mix of spirited driving here and there)?

How many KMs on yours? The OEM plugs are good for a lot of KMs so wondering why you are swapping them now?
Yeah, I picked it up at 13,800 KM so I have about 3000 KM put on it in the last two years. These cars are exceptionally well built so you don't have to worry much about mileage other than the normal wear and tear items.
