Carmax
hi guys I went to carmax a few weeks ago,to get a cash value on my car and what I got it was a 39k quote.Im so disappointed with them my car only has 7k no dents no scratches super clean no accidents etc.....I was reading some thread about trading there rcf for a Camaro and got 55k I'm not sure if it is in cali but I feel ripped off.......Any idea why

I think the guy who traded his in for a Camaro did it 2 years ago. That thread was bumped from the depths.
So your RCF was worth more 2 years ago. If you pick out a Camaro the dealer you are buying from may pay more to make a deal.

yes plenty of idea, you can never compare a number for a trade when another vehicle was involved
you didn't mention how much the camaro was sold for
the dealer could have given 60 k for the rcf and bumped cost or loaded it in the deal
all the time people think they got more money for their trades when they buy another vehicle
its all relative to how much new car costs, what it was sold for, how much money is held back that dealer has to play with, other manufacturer incentives to move product.
thats why one rcf is worth 39k one worth 44 and one worth 55

I worked in the auto industry for a while, and had to deal with trade-ins quite often. CarMax is probably not the most ideal place to get a quote for a car like the RC-F, not that they won't take it, but their bread and butter comes from "average" vehicles like Camry's and F-150's. In your case, I think you should be able to find a better trade value elsewhere...but ultimately, you'll get the most out of it by selling privately. Dealerships don't appreciate the care you've taken of your vehicle, but the right private party buyer certainly will.
That is the price one pays for the convenience of quick sale. They give wholesale/auction price and not the blue book market price, which is what the car would fetch if it sells.
Herei is a video that explains it very well. Guy paid $120,000 for a car and Carmax offers him $86,000 just 6 months after that

Not that its relative, Carmax quoted me 52k for mine as is. Not sure if I'd make out better returning it to stock and parting out the wheels, exhaust, etc. They were pleased w the fact I only have 4800 miles on it. 😳
other dealerships have offered from 53-57k , you would do better if you part out your car .
I think between 39-41 is what they are offering for 2015 Rcf trade ins. , traded my 2015 last year and got 42.5 but that was a year ago , good luck OP
