From what I have read, Alcantra is not a leather product. It is what was introduced in I think the late 60's as a synthetic called "Super Suede". Several years ago they re-introduced it with the name Alcantra and are marketing it as a premium product instead of a cheaper alternative to suede.

 

Oh wow. So my compliment to the owner had not one, but two errors in it. I do hope Im forgiven at some point since I have said material throughout my own 2017.
