Default Transmission Slipping

Hi guy,

I bought a 2015 RCF with 4K mikes earlier this year. I have loved the car aside from the occasional hestitation that many experience even after completing the TSB 🙄. I now have 13k miles on it and have recently noticed what seems to be the transmission slipping. Only happens when the car is cold or sometimes when I'm driving it really easy. When the car goes to shift it'll jump 500-1000 RPMs then shift to the next gear..almost like shifting up in a manual and hitting the gas before you fully release the clutch peddle. Does anyone else experience this??

I experience it also. Only when it's cold. I had a supercharged '12 Tundra and it would do the same thing. I never notice it any other time.

I took mine to Lexus for this same issue earlier this year. Mine only slips when cold and as far as I can tell only from 4th to 5th. On top of that it only seems to slip the first time up through the gears, which is odd. Anyway Lexus assured me there is no problem, this is occurring when the car is operating in safe mode (revs limited) and while I couldn't get them to actually say it was any type of problem, they did say that it "probably" shouldn't do that and if it seemed to be happening more often or when the car was in normal operating mode/temperature then bring it back. It hasn't gotten any worse and if anything I don't notice it much anymore. I don't push the car hard when it is cold and that seems to be the situation when it is really noticeable.

I would have them validate the ATF level is correct. The AA80E is very sensitive to low fluid level; even a few ounces made a significant difference in my IS F. When it is correct, there are no issues at all.

The wife's GS F is one year old now, and I have noticed a couple of symptoms I would attribute to a slightly low ATF level already.

ATF is automatic transmission fluid?
i do recall reading this in the oil threads as well, that toy ota and lexus trans are sensitive to fluid level and may slip alittle.
Mine does it and I offered to pay the dealership to "check " my trans fluid fluid level.
I was put off till next visit so they could order in a new seal/plug because the master tech wanted it incase it was damaged during the check.
needless to say I havent been back as it below 40 degrees here now and she sits in the garage now for the winter :/

I typically got flare when the gearbox was cold with the fluid level low. This is exacerbated by pointing your car downhill for some reason, and I know I was not more than a 8 ounces low after a bit over 100k miles. Once warmed up, a little low is most noticeable when making a hard turn (for me it was left turns) and having the transmission stick in one gear and refuse to upshift regardless of throttle position. After getting the level right, this also stopped.
