Default Transmission Problem

Well maybe not, but this is something that has bothered me since I first purchased the car. I have not had a chance to drive another LS to compare.

After backing up the car, when I shift into drive it seems to take a little longer then I would expect to shift. Like a full one -- one -- thousand then shift. I feel like after shifting into drive, I really have to sit there and wait to drive for fear of "burning the clutch".

It doesn't feel like as much of an issue when shifting from Park to reverse.

How does your LS430 feel when shifting into drive after reversing the car?

is this only when its cold? or all the time?

In general, it takes sometime to shift, especially when the transmission is still cold.

It happens during cold starts or after driving around for some time.

I've driven a ton of cars of course, it just feels like it takes slightly longer then it should. I just wanted to get a feel for how other felt about it. If others noticed a little hesitation before shifting. It happens consistenly, it's not a sometimes thing.

I really need to go test drive another LS and see how that feels. Maybe I'll contact the guy that sold me the car and see if I can drop by and sit into another LS

There is another thread on transmssion somewhere from a few weeks back and someone noted that the shifter is an electronic shifter, so there is no mechanical connection from the shifter to the transmission. If true, might be an electrical issue, more than a transmission issue. The command "D" not being transmitted to the gearbox in a timely manner. Take to Lexus dealer and get looked at to make sure.

For me personally, have not had any issues shifting between gears. Seems no faster or longer than any other automatic trans. I've had.
