Hi guys, I just bought a 2015 and noticed that this was a common issue on a lot of the cars I had seen for sale. The coating on the nav screen looks damaged and mine looks pretty terrible. I've enhanced the problem on this photo but what I wanted to share was that I discovered an L-SB for this issue.
L-SB-0002-16
"Some 2014-2015 Lexus IS250/350 and 2015 RC 350/F vehicles may exhibit damage to the multi-display anti-reflective coating. A display lens with revised anti-reflective coating has been developed to address this condition."
This is covered in the Lexus Basic Warranty for '14 -'15 IS250, IS350 and RC 350/F '15 ONLY. 48 months or 50k miles
If yours looks like this, get it replaced! Should take about an hour for replacement.
Yep, got those scratches on my '14 IS just by spraying it with a mild cleaner then wiping it with a mf cloth.
Coating is VERY delicate. Got it replaced at the time under warranty but the new screen at the time looked similarly delicate. I don't go near the screen on the RC F.
The 10.3" screen on the '17 IS (and likely to come on the '18 RC) is more resistant but I'm still very careful wiping with a damp MF cloth only.
Same happened to me on my 2015, Lexus replaced it under warranty. It could just be me but the replacement one seems to have less or no reflective coating on it. No issues so far with the new one.
How do you like it? I like that it says reusable and washable.
I installed it when I bought the car, maybe two weeks after.. I've never thought about it.. it's there, my detailer only wipes it with a damp cloth, never sprays any cleaners on it. it looks the same now as it did 2.5 years ago, no scratches, no blemishes.
the one thing I do like is there is no glare on it, I've had some RC350s as loaners when my RCF is in for service, and I can distinctly tell the difference between my unit and the loaners with regards to the amount of glare on the screen when the sunroof open and the sun is glaring through and across the dash.
oh yeah and it was very easy to apply, no bubbles or weirdness like some phone screen protectors.. though I have never removed it so I can't speak to that part.
