Default Wheel and tire weights - stock 19" vs New Stance 20"

Hey, just thought I would post this for general public consumption. I got new rims/tires on my car yesterday and I had everything weighed.

My stock front rims were the hand-polished 19x9" split 20 spoke forged alloy rims with Michelin Pilot Super sport 255/35R19. These weighed 51# in total.
My new rims are Stance SF-01 custom painted in Satin Black.

The front rims are 20x9" and weigh 25# with an offset of +32. I was more than a little surprised at this weight, but Stance's explanation was the low offset needed to clear the front calipers added weight due to the thicker pad. New tires for the front: Michelin Pilot Super sport 265/30R20 weighed in at 26#. So my total weight in front is exactly the same as stock at 51#.

My stock rear rims 19x10" with Michelin Pilot Super sport 275/35R19. These weighed 56# in total.
The rear rims are 20x10.5" and weigh 24# with an offset of +40. Again, a little surprised that these weighed less than the fronts. New tires for the rear: Michelin Pilot Super sport 295/30R20 weighed in at 29#. So my total weight in rear is 3# less than stock at 53#.

I didn't dismount the stock tires, so I was unable to weight the rims/tires separately.

My suspension is stock. Tire/wheel overall height is increased by 5.5mm in front and 9.5mm in the rear.

If anyone may be interested in my stock rims and tires, send me a PM. I live in AZ.

Thanks for taking the time to weigh and share the weights. Not enough people share info like this in our forum.

I am also planning to do that when my new wheels arrive Monday. But mine are coming with the tires already on them. So I'll be able to weigh the total weight of the OEM wheels and the new wheels fully mounted and balanced. The tires are the exact same brand and size on both wheels, so only the rim weights will change. I have the base 19" OEM rims though.

The new rims look good. I've always thought red and black went good together.

Edit: I figured I'd put my weights in this post so everything is sort of together.

Stock:
19" OEM base rims and Michelin Pilot Sport A/S 3+
Front - 265/35 - 56 pounds (Tires were missing 1/16" of tread)
Rear - 285/35 - 57 Pounds (Tires were missing 1/8" of tread)

Volks:
19" Ultras and Michelin Pilot Sport A/S 3+
Front - 265/35 - 52.5 pounds (Saved at least 3.5 pounds per wheel)
Rear - 285/35 - 54 pounds (Saved at least 3 pounds per wheel)

For 13 pounds of total weight savings from my previous setup. Keep in mind that the tread missing from the stock tires is more weight. But how much? I don't know. I can feel the difference in handling and I'm seeing better MPG (like 1 MPG at 80).

Hey I'm actually looking at a similar set up but with the michellin 4s and Im just wondering would it be all around the same weight or lighter with the stance rims? I don't want to affect performance. Since the car is already heavy .I know going 20 isn't the smartest either so I night just stay at 19. If I stayed at 19 with the stance and 4s would the be lighter as well than the stock setup?

You say you don't want to affect performance - so don't go 20. It will affect performance.

Given the weight of the stance 20s, at 19 I would expect them to be less than the stock RCF setup. Just use the numbers to see exactly how much.

Your assumption should be correct - but you need to check with Stance to get the precise wheels weights, and weight your tires before they are mounted. That's really the only way to know for sure. Staying with 19s will not degrade your performance, and may actually reduce your rotating mass if they weigh less. You also need to weigh your stock set up, as you may have lighter rims than I had).

20s will affect performance - I was going for looks, rather than performance - though ended up happy that I did not increase the weight.

Yea after a long look at looking at videos and stuff I'm just going to save up a long time and get 20s forged. I love the look a lot more with the car lowered.
