Bought mine in March last year...3500 miles..no issues. My brakes squeeled for about 500 miles and the went away totally. Love the car...just wish it had a nice manual transmission

Do us a favor, read about the fuel pump issues several owners reported in this forum and then comment

why, that is why you have a warranty. waste of money to buy one on your own.

now if it was 4 years down the line or you were near the 50,000 mile mark then I could see it if the pump had not yet failed.

but buying one now is a complete waste:

1. because you have a 4yr/50K warranty that would replace it for free.

2. because chances are a newer part that resolves the issue will be out at some point, and you have the pump that probably has the issue, so replacing it will only serve as a Band-Aid until it goes out, and then chances are Lexus will tell you to pound sand if you try an warranty an item you replaced yourself.

to me this follows the same logic as someone that forks out thousands a year for insurance, and then when they have an accident do everything in their power to avoid filing a claim. You pay for the insurance/warranty for is reason.

I'm also worried about the pump going out at anytime. But like that guy who has owned Ferraris and Porsches said, I drive it like I stole it, whenever I do drive it (nice days only for now)
The only reason I'd think of buying a spare pump is when, in case I'm in a middle of a long trip and don't want to get stranded waiting for a new pump.

Do what you want with your money, dont make silly comments because i have the money to spend..And people weere waiting several weeks for a pump, thus i did not want to wait if mine went out. I did it for convenience. Not to make sense to your Checking account.

I think it was your comment about "go get a bmw" that stirred the pot

Let me tell you about the last 4 BMWs i've owned.

Z4 coupe - drove it for 10k miles, no issues
E92M3 - drove it for about 10k miles, no issues
Z4M Coupe - Have had it for 2 years, no issues
F80M3 - bought new last year, just traded it in at 5.2k miles, NO ISSUES...

you kinda see the pattern there?

People are quick to throw BMW under the bus when it comes to reliability issues. The only Lexus I've had is the GS350 F Sport and it hasn't had an issue since new and now it's at 11k miles. But it drives like a pig though.

I see a pattern of owning a BMW a short period of time. I've had a BMW, not going back...no thanks.

10k miles could be 2 years worth of driving when one has 2-3 cars to split mileage.

Had a e46 325i a long time ago...160k+ miles before my sister totalled it. Only things done were oil changes, filters and replacing the control arms. e46 330ci did 160k+ miles also before I gave it to my brother and he traded it in for something else. Had to replace head gasket once and replaced thermostat myself. As long as the owner takes care of the car, the car will run just fine. It works the same way with every car.

you wont win a BMW vs LEXUS reliability argument in this forum. I like BMWs but it seems you like to have something to complain about. BMW should give you plenty. I have worked at BMW for a total of 5 years and still have friends that are certified techs. BMWS FOR THE MOST PART ARE IN THE SHOP TWICE AS MUCH AS OTHER CARS. Their parts departments are 3 to 4 times larger than a Lexus parts dept. and do you know why...... because the break and nickel and dime you to death. Not bragging but my uncle is worth a million or 3. He is an avid BMW owner he refuses to own one past the warranty. And the same goes for his brother.

I don't think I'm trying to argue about Lexus vs. BMW reliability argument. I'm mainly stating that it's truly overused that "BMW is not reliable". All my cars have been reliable, and it just happens that I've owned many of them the last 10 years. As far as fixing stuff, I haven't had to spend a dime fixing any problems since all my cars have been under warranty. I don't plan on owning a Lexus or even a BMW past warranty, except for my Z4MC.

There's a second reason: According to a few comments I've read, some Lexus dealerships (probably under orders from Lexus) are not replacing pumps unless they fail. If true, that'd be absolutely stupid. And a reason to carry a spare if you travel a lot.

I only had one BMW, an E92 M3, and had to sell it due to bad engine main bearings. Didn't want to deal with a rebuilt engine. But that doesn't in any way justify the issues we're having on the RC-F now. It's a joke having fuel pump issue problems on a freaking port injection low-pressure pump when they've been in production for decades. And then Lexus not doing anything about it because it's not a safety issue. Then the multiple rattles my car has since new is nothing to laugh at. They have quality-control issues, whether the fanboys here admit it or not. You just don't expect that from an $80K car (in my case), period. My parking brake was barely engaging, as well as other issues that should have never reach the customer. So it's not only the factory, but dealership (PDI) as well. Hopefully Lexus reads forums like this, and eventually does something about it. Have a great day.
