Default Winter Wheel/Tire Setup (Merged Threads)

Hi All,

For anyone interested, i just finished getting the winter tires on this beast..

Coating: CQuartz UK (I posted another thread about this a while back: https://www.clublexus.com/forums/rc-...tailed-ca.html)

Rims: Touren TR-9 19" Matte Black
Tires: Michelin X-Ice Xi3 245 / 40 / 19 (filled with nitrogen, non staggered)

The TR-9 rims support the RC-F's offsets and bolt patterns, clear the huge *** calipers in the front, and don't look like ****ty steel rims. It'll be a cold day in hell when I put steel rims on this car .

Enjoy:

End Result :

Agree. : What kind of investment was made for the wheels and tires? Love the wheels!

If you change the wheels, what about the tpms? Can two sets of tpms sensors be mated to the system?

I was going to get OEM TPMS sensors installed, but they didn't arrive at the time the installation was scheduled. I went ahead without them because I couldn't wait.

What they were going to do was copy the IDs of the existing sensors to the same wheel of the new sensors. This would have made it seem like the car had the original TPMS sensors.

Right now in the dash, the i see "---" for each tire sensor, because there are none.

These actually look better than the stock rims. You should keep them all year round.

Default Winter Set Up For RCF Wheels/Tires

I know its early! Im taking delivery of my UW/RED RCF in june!! Looking for suggestions on where to get some wheels and tires for a winter set up! Any suggestions would help! Its coming with the 20 spoke polished rims, thinking a 5 spoke rim would be good alternative.

Check this thread out. It listed the spec for the winter setup.

Mine's allergic to snow and ice. It won't be going outside at all with the slippery stuff on the roads.

I picked up my RCF back in December and I quickly found out the Michelin PSS summer tires were a little slippery when the temperature fell below 40 degrees. It was like driving on hockey pucks. They just got hard as a rock and provided no traction in cold weather which made accelerating, stopping, and turning a real challenge. A couple of times, it was downright scary.

I'm in the Dallas area, and we occasionally get a little snow and ice, but its nothing major so I decided some good All Season tires would meet my needs. I ended up with the Michelin Pilot Sport All Season 3 series tires and they are great. Now that it has warmed up again, I'm about to put the summer tires back on and hope to take it to the track a couple times this summer.

Default RC-F winter driving

Very close to pulling the trigger on a new RC-F.

However I'm planning to use it as my daily driver in Toronto, Canada.

Anyone use this car in the winter? Am I crazy for thinking of doing this? Of course I'll put on a good set of winter tires... but is it enough?

Please share your thoughts.

Thank you.
