I didn’t know when I purchased my car a couple months ago that it did not have native CarPlay and required my phone to be plugged in with a cable. I also missed having a touchscreen. Did some research and decided on replacing my unit with a Linux based replacement from Lexion. It was surprisingly easy to self install. Any issues I had, their customer service was available by WhatsApp and answered super quick and solved my issues quickly as well. Screen is very clear and system is quick! Definitely recommend this to anyone interested in the same type of upgrade.
Good info. Putting it down in my list of things to do. My 2016 infotainment is extremely dated even compared to my 2017 RX350 F-Sport and the 2019 IS350 F-Sport that I have. Might consider this in the next year or so.
Lexion is super it's fast wireless and the track pad works like factory even with vibration, also the AHD cameras especially the front is very helpful. The system is very well optimized.
Hello, do you have rattles or squeak after the conversion?
Do all the button works including the steering wheels?
how long did it take you? Would love to see a picture.
Thanks!
If you have the smaller screen and you're going with the larger Lexion or any aftermarket Android/Carplay display, I think it's a good idea to replace the instrument cluster hood with one from the facelift models so the lower left corner of the screen is unobstructed. You can see the difference in the first picture (start button area)

there is a firmware, I did it on my 2019 and have carplay now even though initially it didn't come with it.
This will work for 2018 and 2019 Production years for the RCF
Here is the website link. Read the LSB First and make sure your model ID matches the file you are using. Follow directions to the T, once the update the update starts, be patient and watch, don't intervene and just WAIT. You will know when its done, I would suggest printing the LSB so you can follow along step by step. There will be times you think it might be frozen and not doing anything, but it's NOT FROZEN be patient and FOLLOW DIRECTIONS. If you interrupt the process because you think its FROZEN or you are impatient you could BRICK your Head Unit. Now that I've scared the HELL out of you best of luck, be patient, follow directions and do exactly what it tells you to do. Once its done, you will have carplay only, it will not give you ANDROID AUTO.
Here is the link, go to the bottom of page where the purple banner starts, thats the RCF SECTION. Download the file and set up your thumb drive the way it tells you too.
