Improving rear tire grip for drag.
I have the stock RCF tires but, I’m very disappointed. They break loose all the time. I’m thinking about going to the Nitto NT01 when I’m ready for tires. Anyone have experience with playing with tire types and sizes to get the rear to stick better at lower speeds and gears?
What year do you have? Does it have the OEM PSS on it (pre-2020)? I swapped the OEM PSS with XL PS4S tires and they already are a huge leap forward in terms of traction. Still, they are not really meant for drag racing, but more for cornering with stiff sidewalls. If you want to get drag radials then you will need to go with very soft sidewalls so that there is a lot of load transfer over the rear wheels. You can try Hoosier drag radials or Mickey Thompsons. I believe the Toyo Proxes R888 are also really good for drag racing. Though, they are used a lot in road course/ track racing.
Look into some of the 200TW tires.. I run RE71RS in OEM size but like any 200TW you have to get them up to temp to optimize grip.
You can also play with lower tire pressures to try and increase grip.
