update: sent the amp to OEMCarAudio for repair. They called yesterday. The amp is working fine. Said it's most like a data bus issue with comms to/from the AMP to the head unit. He added that he has seen the pins on the connector side (small connector is data and amp power) where the pins on the connector spread apart and lose connection with the amp. So perhaps others --- check these pins before you are convinced that your amp is DOA ----- NOT looking forward to chasing down this problem though..... i sure hope it's the connector pins......

side note: They could have easily said "it's broke, here is a $350 bill" ---- so great customer service and props to the honest service.

does anyone have a pinout of the power connector to the AMP?

I think this is the small plug that goes to the AMP
