Spare from modernspare finally arrived this week. No spacer required, plenty of front caliper clearance and fits flush underneath the trunk floor, so no loss of precious trunk space.

I think this is has to be one of the first immediate "must own" aftermarket accessories I've ever seen before for a new car. From the moment I read about the patch kit in the manual, I couldn't believe my F didn't come with a spare and imagined what I would be like trying to read the instructions somewhere on the side of the road while praying it held long enough to get me somewhere. Admittedly, I am a AAA member, but have also experienced long wait times. So a spare seems like a must have; arguably more so than a sunshade or phone holder. But Jim, for a car where I'm looking to shed weight, how much does the tire actually weigh? modernspare says it's lightweight, but I found nothing on the website providing an actual weight (not to mention with the jack and other tools).
Sorry, I didn’t have a scale handy, but it was light enough for me to grab and lift it up with one hand. I would guess maybe half of the weight of the full-sized front tire/wheel combo? The jack is a jack, probably 3-5 lbs. For me, I f I were concerned about every last pound, I should consider going on a diet before trying to reduce weight on the vehicle! Having the confidence that I can drive outside my AAA coverage area knowing I have a working spare (max speed is 50mph BTW) is reassuring! I think a better alternative to the slime is a patch/plug kit. Not sure if one can use the slime compressor as a pump with/o the slime? A spare is something the dealer should include instead of useless stuff like door protective trim or trunk/bumper appliqué.
When I ordered mine from ModernSpare, it came with a spacer for the front. This one is definitely better.
I haven't had to use it yet, but its worth it for the peace of mind when traveling long distances.
I am sure the track edition is the same specs as the regular RCF. Call modern spare if you are concerned.
I have one of the originals with the spacer. I have never had to used it thankfully. I drive remote back roads and it does give me peace of mind. I did get a nail in a tire once. I carry a good air pump and had to fill the tire every hour and made it home without using the spare. Luckily a slow leak.

Thanks. I thought there was some size difference in clearance.
And that sounds like the best case of a bad situation.
