Default Year Model?

Help me figure this out
My car has a production date of 12/22 and is considered a 22 model, right?

I think that would be a 2023 as 2023 was announced a couple of months ago.

I would agree, BUT! Everything else refers to it as a 22 model.
My window sticker calls it a 22
My dealership calls it a 22
In the aftermarket we often refer to prod dates for determining year model and anything later than 8 August of that year is considered a next year model.

Really odd as 2023 will start production this late summer/early fall.

I’m well aware. The RC was the only 23MY announced in 2023. But it’s at dealers and has been for a while

The point still remains, the OP's RCF should be a 2023. Not a 2022 as his build date is in December 2023.

No touch screen, no electric P-brake either, its a 22 model with an odd birthdate
So doe's anyone else have a late prod date?

it’s definitely odd. According to Lexus’s Japanese website, the 22MY production (at least for the JDM market) ended 11/22

The RCF is a very low volume car and the MY23 updates weren't even announced until Jan/Feb time frame. So while yes it's a little odd if you're used to mass produced cars (in the U.S. market), it's not out of the ordinary for more niche vehicles. You obviously have a 22 model if that's what all of your documentation says.

"" it's not out of the ordinary for more niche vehicles. ""

I'm in the retail automotive repair side of the industry for almost 33 years now, I've seen a lot "niche" special custom and rare cars, Can't say i've ever seen a production date this late on a model year tho and that whats got me puzzled. I agree with you and really am trying to figure out how to or if there is a meaning to this late date? Are there others with December dates? Did Lexus continue building into december because 23 model updates weren't ready yet? One thing I'm sure of, it wasn't an accident there is a reason behind it and I'm curious what that reason may be
