Default 2023 RC Updates

While Lexus has yet to officially unveil the 2023 RC, I have it on good accord that the 2023 RC will be getting some relatively major updates as it relates to Safety and Interior. On the Safety front it will be upgraded to Lexus Safety Sense 2.5+. And in terms of interior, it will be getting the same interior (dash, nav screen) as the 2021+ IS. Exterior wise I see no noticeable change. I expect Lexus to likely unveil it sometime this week. Here is some reading material to get you guys by in the meantime:
Owner's Manual (DOES NOT WORK ON MOBILE)

The IS and RC are both losing their current nav system, for the new generation of infotainment, like found in the new 2022 NX, 2022 LX, 2023 UX, and 2023 RX. All of Lexus is starting to move to this new gen, ideally by 2023. We'll see if the IS and RC follow suit.

The 23 IS was announced last month and it is not getting the new infotainment. And the owners manual I posted proves the 23 RC isn’t either.

Maybe they're going to roll it out for 2024 then. I work at a Lexus dealer and was told that all of our models are making the transition over to the current gen multimedia system.

Whatever they do, I hope they manage to keep the screen integrated with the dash somehow. I really don’t care for the infotainment just plopped down on top like most makers are doing lately. It just looks cheap to me. I’m sure it makes it easier to replace if it goes bad but these are luxury cars not Hondas

So now I have to reach forward and touch the screen to make something happened instead of my right arm just relaxed on the mid console? Who the **** decide that was a good idea?

Damn the RC side of the forum really uneducated about the rest of the Lexus line-up. The screen is touchscreen but also has a track pad. In 10 months I haven’t touched my screen once.

I sure did. I didn't see your post so my apologies. But yeah, it would have been a ***** if they removed the track pad. Touch screen only option is stupid.

I had a 17 Civic Si and the touchscreen was integrated into the dash where our climate controls are in the RC. It was as easy to reach as the gear shifter and looked good. The trackpad can be a pain because the sensitivity makes it twitchy to land on what I want. Even after 18 months of owning my car, I’m constantly overshooting when I need to use it. I don’t use it much because of that. Touchscreens are better but not when they’re stuck up on top where they’re a longer reach.

Reaching forward is stupid and distracting, especially when scrolling or pressing a sequence. The track pad is safer and more ergonomic. If you're having issues with the track pad, it's an operator issue, not the equipment.

Whatever dude. Every automotive review of every Lexus model that has a trackpad complains about it because it’s not user friendly. Infotainment has always been the number one negative point on Lexus interiors so I don’t think it’s just me. It’s more dangerous to have to focus longer on the screen because of the trackpad jumping past the driver’s intended target than it is to lift their free arm a few inches and touch exactly what they need.

Doesn't matter. Reaching forward to touch a button is the definition cumbersome and not user friendly. Those trackpad haters must have really long arms hence they love to reach forward. As an Asian dude, I don't have that luxury. Dexterity use with your back relaxed is less distraction and work over leaning and reaching forward just to scroll/change screen menu then touching the button. If they have problems with dexterity, then it's the operator as I don't have that problem. Glad the RC is not updating to the stupid newer braindead infotainment design.

And yeah, those reviewers should just buy a Tesla or any 2021 US brand vehicles and they have a party with the touchscreen.
