Unhappy replacing entire interior trim

hello Lexus owners! I'm in the process of contacting a dealer's parts department for a quote on replacing all of the interior (roja red) trims including seats, doors, and whatever misc pieces and replacing them with black. would anyone venture a guess as to what the total cost may be? I'm in the market for a 2018 Lexus RC but all of the used ones with atomic silver exterior have red. I've seen a few with silver ext and black int a while back but they've all been sold now.

alternatively, is there another way to completely redo the interior colors?

I like myLparts.com for all my OEM items. This is likely a cost prohibitive change man. The door cards alone are $1400 each, seats will be another $1000+ each. All in if you could do it yourself you are talking $5000+ easily. If you are set on a particular color be patient and search broadly. One will pop up eventually.

This is true. I believe the seats (if it's an F Sport) are actually on the order of 3-5K a piece.

I just looked at the covers and those were nearly $700 each just for the seats....the backs were another $700-1000 each. Didn't think it would be that expensive. At the price point I would look into aftermarket seats. Braum makes a nice seat for $850ish. The random center console pieces would be a few hundred dollars. The door cards would be pricey but you might be able to find that cheap somewhere.

For $5,000.00, I'd gladly sit in a red seat.
I agree that this seems like a pretty big project at a very high cost for an aesthetic result with no utilitarian aspects whatsoever. Also, unlike many other modifications, this change will add nothing to the resale value of the car, and may even have the opposite effect, as the red seats are often considered a bold fashion statement, which is worth something.
I'd suggest to LX4 that he rethink this project.

I actually wanted the red interior but didn't find an F Sport in the setup I wanted so just went with the Molten Pearl and black interior (wish it had been the black and white but whatever). I know the costs are crazy because I got Lexus to replace the entire driver seat in my vehicle because the bolster was crumbling and SUPPOSEDLY (based on Lexus brochure) that's not supposed to happen because of the design of the seats. I think the invoice on that replacement was north of $3k if I remember correctly. (I could go pull the paper from the car but I'm being lazy, lol.)

I think if you hold out/be patient LX4 you'll find one that's setup like you want. It's getting close to time for people to start turning in their lease vehicles so you'll have a larger selection in the next couple/few months.

thank for your take. hmm in terms of replacing other aspects of aesthetics, would you know how much a complete full paint job would cost at a dealership for the OEM atomic silver?

Well you're looking at several thousands of dollars again. Just for my brake calipers being painted by the dealer was $800. (Why don't you hold out for a different color vehicle/setup that you're looking for?) It may be cheaper to get the vehicle wrapped rather than repainting it. You'll lose a TON of value repainting the vehicle to a different color from the factory color.

Thousands of dollars. I would look into wrapping the car instead of painting. A full color change wrap is $2500-3500 depending on the material. I am not sure what you have in your area but go to the Lexus dealership and see what they have in their inventory if they have more than one location. I would imagine you could get something sent to you.

I second this. You should be able to view Lexus inventory in a few hundred mile radius if you go to Lexus.com and select to view certified vehicles near you. (I think it's like a 200 mile radius.) If you don't care if the car is certified then check a site like cars.com. (I'd recommend certified from a Lexus dealer because of the service you get after the purchase.)

I don't even think a dealer would attempt to do a full repaint of a different color on one of their cars. You could have a 3rd party paint shop paint the car with OEM paint, and I am guessing it would be around $7-$8k.

Yeah my guess is that they don't/won't. I would seriously look at getting the vehicle wrapped if you don't like the color or just wait until you find the color you like. Is the issue that there's only one car available and you can't wait or something else?

So basically I’m hoping to find a ‘18 RC so I can have the dealer retrofit CarPlay in there. It’s the oldest year in which CarPlay is compatible without the use of aftermarket parts. I’ve considered getting an older RC and installing the CarPlay kit from Beatsonic but I’m not sure how it compares to OEM CarPlay.

I'm not sure on that but I've driven MANY brand new Lexus vehicles and the navigation has taken us to the wrong place EVERY SINGLE TIME so I haven't been impressed. I know carplay is different but other than getting the bigger screen, new graphics, etc...... I don't know that it's worth the cost unless it meets everything you want (car color, interior color, etc....)

If you’re interested, I have an all black interior 2016 RC 300 F-sport. Not sure if it’s 100% compatible with the 2018 RC interior, but if it is, I’m open to swapping out the interiors. That should be more cost effective. Let me know what you think.
