Lightbulb Help! My first wheel and tire purchase.

Hi everyone!

Given that this is my first personally owned vehicle, and I have never driven a vehicle nice enough to mod, I have absolutely ZERO experience with wheels/tires and fitment. I need your help with my decision!

My concerns are the following:
  • I drive in New England, winters suck, potholes suck, and I'll likely keep my stock wheels/tires for winter BUT I would like to purchase some summer wheels/tires to give the car a bit of a sportier look.
  • I drive an AWD 350 F Sport - not sure how that would affect the tire wear/rotations/etc.
  • I plan on lowering the front a little (maybe RSR Down springs - but they are out of stock on the site)
  • MOST IMPORTANTLY - I don't want rubbing - the last thing I want is damage to the car or cutting down the life of the vehicle/wheels/etc.
In terms of style, I've always liked gloss black wheels, and I LOVE the look of the Rohana RFX5's - so If you know of any other wheel that has a very similar style - please let me know.

I don't know if 20" would fit without rubbing, or if I should stick to the closer "stock" 19"? I also would want a lower profile tire that would showcase the wheel but still survive crappy road conditions. I've also considered just powder coating my stock F-sport rims Gloss Black and coating it for protection.

Will 20" wheels fit on this vehicle without being detrimental to performance, life of the vehicle and parts, cause rubbing, etc?
Will 20" wheels fit on this vehicle with the front lowered slightly ie RSR downs (I still want a small wheel gap, I personally dislike the look of bagged vehicles)?
Will 19" wheels look "small" and make the tires look large and look crappy in comparison on this vehicle?
Are there any wheels that are similar to the Rohana RFX5's that you know of on the market that would fit this vehicle?

Any and all feedback is appreciated!
Thank you!
-Sam

Well i have a set of those wheels in 20X9 on my AWD with rsr super downs in the front with no rubbing leaves about a 2 finger gap so the downs should have no problem and the fitment is pretty much flush to fender

Would you mind giving your exact tire and wheel specs?

Do you scrape much?

I'm waiting on my 20" VS-XX wheels to come in and I'm thinking RSR Down Springs (not the super) to give myself clearance for driveways. I don't really want to scrape, I have my Evo for that. lol

I'm running 19 inches on mine. Im on Springs. They rub when i turn. So i'm not sure 20's would have fit on mine. Mine is AWD but driving a staggered setup on mine. Last set of tires lasted me around 40,000sh miles. Now on my second set.

What are your wheel/tire specs? It's only rubbing due to the lowered springs?

Tire size and wheel width can cause rubbing.

I too am on the north east with an AWD RC. I have the HRE FF01 in:

20x9.5 (front) and 20x10.5 (rear)
lowered on RSR Super Downs.

No rubbing even at full lock left/right.

Having the staggered set doesn’t mess with AWD? I had another AWD car where I could not run a staggered set-up. Sorry if it’s a dumb question, I just picked up my RC350 AWD.
