Red face Lexus RC - Let's Talk about gas mileage ?

Hello guys and fast ladies,

The Lexus RC isn't that recent of a car, but I always find it difficult to find reliable mileage datas out there.

My question to you would be ; what are the mileages you are reaching usually and with which type of RC ? A subsidiary question would be what type of driving style or terrain do you ride for reaching those fuel consumption.

I'm specially interested in the 200t and the RCF mileages, because I'm hesitating between the two, but the 300h isn't completely irrational nor disqualified. The 350 is not imported on our market.

Thanks !

These cars have a ECO, Normal and sport drive mode. Factor that in with the driving style, traffic, % of city vs HWY driving. The feedback will likely vary a great deal. I drive a RC350 and get around 25MPG. 90% of my driving is HWY and usually has quite a bit of traffic. I keep my car in ECO mode.

I hope this helps.

This past weekend I went on a beach trip to Emerald Isle, NC and drove about 2 hours mostly highway on my 2016 RC200T and reached 35.6 mpg avg during the trip. I have 22,100 miles on the odometer. I was in normal mode the entire trip.

300h f-sport all the way. I wish we had that in America because I would be driving that.

I would normally recommend checking out Fuelly.com. Unfortunately there aren't a lot of owners/vehicles participating for the options you are interested in.
There is still some helpful data, just not as rich as some other models.
The app lets you enter city/hwy balance for each fuel-up, but I don't know how many people reliably use it, it defaults to 50% and can be turned off. Hard to say how reliable that info is if you drill into the numbers.
I track miles on my RC350, but that won't help with what you are asking.

Example:
RC200t there are 4 vehicles being tracked for 67 fuel-ups for about 20k miles. They combined are averaging 22.7 mpg
RCF 10 vehicles ~350 fuel-ups 90k miles 18-19 mpg

RC300h http://www.fuelly.com/car/lexus/rc300h
RC300 http://www.fuelly.com/car/lexus/rc300

I drive city for work which is 80% of driving and 20% is mostly hwy for going out.

Combined I get about 16mpg on an RCF but I've been driving without mpg in mind the first year. About 23mpg easily if i'm always on the hwy but we have a lot of uphills leaving town otherwise I see 27mpg on eco.

The 16mpg is honestly surprisingly good since it's rated 17 city and I've driven under high load in Sport+ manual most of the time and I'll go a tank without hitting the hwy occasionally. I imagine I'd get 19 if I drove conservatively in town.

I do not have an RC350, but have driven a GS350 with the same power train since 2012. I consistently get 25-27 mpg in town, 28-30 mpg on the highway, almost all in normal mode. Using other modes does not seem to change my mileage.

2016 RC200t here. Not bad eh? I have no choice but to drive in ECO mode on the bumper-to-bumper rush hour freeway traffic of Los Angeles. I chose this model for the sole purpose of commuting to work while saving gas and looking good. -heh

I forgot to thank you all for your participation to this thread. It meant a lot to me. My wife and I, looked at your consumption data, and they are really okay for this kind of a car.
Whatever, at 22.7 mpg, I would probably be more inclined to go in direction of an RCF ; also because it's very uncommon/rare and probably a good chunk more thrilling on our standard swiss roads.

Also, the rarity of the car would make a perfect anti-theft system, because my colleagues of the police will recognize the car from far away in case of a theft.

RC300 25,000 miles AWD. 19 to 21 winter and summer around town. Best ever in summer on interstate on long trip 26. What a joke for a car that is by no means fast. Very disappointed to say the least.

I did a bit of MPG testing when I bought my RCF, each mode, 1 month, exact same drive/routine.

my overall life MPG from purchase to sale 34 months, 34,900 miles was 19.9 mpg.

I have an RC300 Turbo, I only get 22.4 mpg, that's with heavy street driving though.

BTW anyone know if you can get the boost gauge into the center console screen? Seems better there than in the dash

RC350 here and I drive mostly city with occasional highway and at least once a drive I punch it to get around some slow poke or just to feel the need for speed. I would say I am generally concerned 0% about gas mileage so I dont use ECO mode or the like.....and when I check it I am usually in the 17-19 range.
