Range of Lexus

It's not stupid. Range is going to vary based on your style of driving and several other factors like the quality of fuel you're using, weather/environment, tire PSI can have an affect on fuel economy as well as clean vs dirty filters.
So to better answer your question:
1. How's the weather?
2. What gas are you using (brand, premium/regular)
3. Car's year, mileage and services done
4. Your driving style and % city/hw

That seems low. I'm down under 1/4 of a tank and will fill it this weekend. Mine usually says somewhere around 410-425 miles when I fill it. By the way I fill it all the way to the top of the filler neck so maybe there is a little more then a gallon extra. My overall MPG since new is 27.5 MPG with 26K on the clock. Long trips at 30 mpg and around the city/town it's 24 mpg.

Weather has been under 50 degrees
I use premium gas, usually QT
2010 Lexus, 35K miles
80% city 20% highway
I've been averaging 18.5 in city
The cars range is 320 miles when i fill up

One thing I forgot to mention is US is currently using "winter gas" as whats used in warmer months. But that 80% city looks to me like the biggest offender
This is very crude math but let's say 18.5 gallon tank - 2 gallon reserve give or take. 16.5 gallon fillup x 18.5mpg = 302.5 mile range roughly.
320 mile range seems plausible with your car and driving habits

Keep in mind the range listed is also probably listed with a higher mpg or in the listed case the average of both city/hw. 18.5mpg is the lower spectrum of ES fuel economy. If you were averaging about 23mpg that range will be around 350. It's all relative to how you drive. That range approximation is going to continually change. Go on a trip or long drive and you'll see it go up

when i take a long road trip i have only been up to a range of it reading 394 i think
i still am yet to see it bust over 400

Wow seems really low to me. The worse I ever got with mostly city or town driving was 23 mpg. By the way I am running regular gas and it is winter here in the north east. I would try to measure it the old fashion way by filling the tank to the top of the filler neck. Then drive it 100 miles and refill it to the same place. Do the math and see what you get.

Mike I have been doing this since day one. If you know how and when to do this and you understand expansion /contraction of fuels based on weather conditions this is not an issue. Let me say you don't just fill it in the morning and park it in the hot sun . As I mentioned when I take a 4 hr trip I fill it and don't want to stop . I didn't give advice I just let others know what I do. I usually get 400 miles out of a tank.

Even though I noticed the same, I can easily reach 400 miles on a tank while with all interstate driving.

Just as a point of interest here. If you have ever seen an open container being filled with gas you would notice that it foams. When you fill your tank it does the same thing and when the foam hits the nozzle it shuts off the fill process. So just as an experiment try to squeeze the pump to get a very little flow. Then see how much more gas you get into the tank. You will be surprised because it will be more than a gallon. Also every time the pump shuts off wait maybe 10 seconds and start to fill again. It's just like pouring a beer in a glass , the faster you pour the less liquid and more foam you get.
