Default Tire Splitting

I went to Mavis recently because I needed a flat repair. They pointed our that my 2015 RC350 tires are splitting. They have approx 30k miles on them, but are not worn - tread-wise. The splitting is at the ridge near the rims.

When I went to the Mavis I usually go to - the guy I trust said it's from road hazard (hitting potholes) and that the way the tires are made these days the rim hits the sidewall when you hit even the smallest of potholes. Damn these new york streets!

Anyone else have this issue? Being that the tires are not worn and way less than 6 years old, it may be that the warranty will kick in - my guy is looking into it and will put in a claim.

These high performance low profile tires don't last but like 25k miles if you are lucky. These are not the tires that go onto Toyota Camry or Honda Accord that will go some 80k miles. And if you have "Summer High Performance Tires", then you are prone to "cracking" in temperatures below 20 F and therefore not advisable to drive in freezing temperatures. All seasons tires are ok. Since you are in NY, you most likely have all season tires.

And if in a STAGGERED configuration as in all the RC's (therefore not able to rotate the tires), the tire warranty is usually just "HALF" of the "REGULAR" mileage.

It is safer to just replace all four tires ASAP.
