just a gripe here...but my oem tires love nails. I have had to patch my rear right tire 3x already. and now...it's got a slow leak...argh!
I heard that these low pro tires have this prob.

wouldn't you still hit those same nails if you had regular profile tires?
my cousin has run flat tires on his 330i and he got 1 nail. he was told they can't patch those tires cuz they're special and has to buy a whole new tire...

Ha, take a good guess at what I just paid 265 dollars for yesterday. A brand new originial equipment Bridgestone Potenza RE050. It didnt have 1 nail in it, it had 2 nails in it. The second nail was too close to the sidewall so it could not be patched. Needless to say that type of tire is a rare commodity, even the dealerships had trouble sourcing it, and the best price they could give me was $350. So I said screw it and ordered it online from Tirerack (great service!). It took only a day for the tire to arrive at my door step...*big sigh of relief, I was tired of driving around with a spare, my lexus hoopty 350
Yeah there is no warranty for tires, thats just nuts. But there is a replacement program which they offer as you are signing the paperwork for you car. I think it cost about $435 for the year.
It covers the life of the lease
Ever notice that 90% of the time it's the REAR tires that get 'nailed'. The front tires with the sticky compound picks up the nails/screws and stands them up and the rears run over them - think about it, nails/screws normally lay on the road on their sides, so just running over it should not puncture the tread . . .
I was a sucker and bought the Tires for Life and Road Hazard (5 years)
Then I noticed I got a screw/nail stuck on my rear side wall (no leaking though) when I took it in for a factory warranty. The mounting and balancing was all covered, and obviously including the tire, so on the bill it was $409 if I didn't have the hazard thingy. Mind you I may have only cost $300 elsewhere, but they lend you a car, have roadside assist, and everything.
Btw they told me I could get a refund on it if I didn't claim, but because I drive about 80 miles a day through truck-heavy roads, I'm like I'll give it a shot. Of course they make you service and and everything there (Newport, CA), but it's more like paying for a service and convinience. I guess it's like insurance... usually you'll never need it unless you didn't have it
