Default Key Detected In Vehicle Warning Message

Sometimes when I get in the car I get a warning message stating "KEY DETECTED IN VEHICLE" with the warning master light coming up as soon as I close the door, is this normal? It happens sometimes, and other times it wont happen... I brought it to Lexus and told them, they ran the diagnostics test and said there was no issues. Also, when I turn the car off, and close the door the car automatically locks... This isn't always the case, sometimes I have to click the lock button twice to lock car + turn lights off.

Let me know what you guys think. Thanks.

For when closing the door and automatically locking, I'm guessing you are touching the detent on the exterior handle that locks it.

Not at all actually, I'm not even touching the key either... its weird, not sure if the cold has anything to do with it.

You will only get that message of "Key Detected in Vehicle" when you try to lock the car with the key in the car, so something is sending a signal telling your car to lock.

I think something is wrong with the key. Have you tried using the other one?
