Default Oil Change/Maintenance

15K reminder went off in my RC350 F sport notifying me that an oil/filter/tire rotation was due. I made an appointment at the dealer and was told that this car does not get an oil change after each 5k miles but only at 10k mile intervals. I thought that was odd..anyone else hear this?

Also, was told because of the staggered tires that rotations aren't done. I figured that much out.

Besides the oil change not being done, the price of the 15k maintenance was $495!!! What is included in this, I asked and was told that it included a thorough inspection of the car (brakes, fluids, tires, etc) and that there are no window or sunroof leaks and that they open and close properly, changing the wipers, in cabin filter, pvc, etc.

At $495, I told them I can check my own car and see if the sunroof works.

Yeah oil change is true about every 10k if they use synthetic oil. Now 495 bucks just for checking stuff, forget it. We drive Lexus but we weren't born yesterday.

That's ridiculous. This is why I have always worked on my own cars. After the complimentary 5K and 10K service, my car will not go back for "inspections".

They charge how much for 15K mile service?!

Took mom's ES350 in to dealer for 25K mile service (per her request), and it was only $80...it's basically the same as 15K mile service.

Now I see why and understand the reason dealerships are called "stealerships"....Just goes to show how many people get set-up and actually go forward with paying these ridiculous fees. We are not driving Ghibli's here lol it's a Toyota product. If I were you, I'd call up your Yota dealership. I was told I had the option of taking my RC anywhere I wanted to for service, and that I didn't have to go to Lexus. I will just do the complimentary services there, other than that, they're on their own to rip other people off, not me. Good luck!

Yea, for $495 to just check things is a rip off.

Yep just went into for my 6 month 5K maintenance and it was free. No oil change for the F sport as it gets full synthetic. I did have them to an alignment and get me so touch paint tho and it cost around 150 bucks....not too bad but could have been slightly less.

Did a oil change myself as 10k is too long IMO...and it never HURTS to do additional oil changes if you can afford it. Will let them do the next free service at 10K and then Im no longer coming back!

You did know that alignment and wheel balancing are covered for the 1st year or 20k miles right?

Check it out:

http://www.lexus.com/warranty

Open up the basic warranty tab and you'll see it right there.

"Wheel alignment and balancing are covered for 12 months or 20,000 miles, whichever occurs first."

Hmmm...that I don't know. Doesn't hurt to try and ask. Just let them know and show them it's on their website.

I don't see anywhere saying alignment or wheel balancing would be void if you did any aftermarket mods.

You know had I known this prior to my serive I probably could have gotten away with this. Just not even mention that I had dropped the car since they didn't even bother to ask. Unfortunetly it does mention it on the website that only if there is no alteration and its just probably too late now:
