Lexus' New Gen. performance result...
I was browsing on Youtube and found a particular channel call Performance Drive they test drive many kinds of vehicle. However, I realized that only GS350 and IS350 are close to factory claim number and others are way off, so something is not right....
Skip to 3/4 of video for testing result. I threw in BMW X3 just for comparison.
2015 Lexus RC350 F Sport, 0-100 km/h = 6.7 sec
2015Lexus NX 200T AWD F Sport, 0-100 km/h = 8.3 sec
2014 Lexus IS350 F Sport, 0-100 km/h = 5.9 sec
2013 Lexus GS350 F Sport, 0-100 km/h = 5.9 sec
2015 BMW X3 xDrive28i, 0-100 km/h = 6.6 sec

So the RC350 F-sport is slower than a 4-cylinder BMW X3....that's kind of disappointing. Definitely doesn't feel that slow when driving it. Lexus definitely needs to put the RC on a diet, or give it more oomph (ideally both).

heavier and slower it may be, but in terms of structural rigidity and ride quality, the RC triumphs over the IS and even the GS. I work for Lexus and have driven these back to back numerously. IS & GS have body quivers to some degree but in the RC theyre almost non-existent. Noticeably smoother ride in the RC. And it definitely doesn't feel slower than an IS

The performance issue is why I'm still not entirely sure I'll move over to the Lexus. Granted the RC looks awesome and has great equipment. But stepping down to 306 hp is a big change. My current ride in Australia is a HSV E3 GTS - 490hp from the (Chevrolet) LS3 engine, sub 5 sec 0-60, amazing grip and brakes, and a fantastic noise! A pic of my model is below...
If I was to change over to the current HSV Gen F GTS (VF model) - the most powerful Australian made car - I'm looking at 576hp from the 'standard' Chev LSA engine. Put on the Walkinshaw W507 kit - exhaust, smaller supercharger top pulley, tune and cold air intake - and you'll be easily putting out 680hp and doing sub 4 second 0-60's!!! (Walkinshaw jointly own HSV along with Holden (GM)). Check out some Aussies having fun!!
PS from the PDTV site - "PerformanceDrive is an Australian automotive online publication that specialises in performance, luxury, and sporty vehicles, and vehicles with character. Whether it’s new car reviews or supercars news, old-school classics and restorations, race cars and videos, to anything modified, PerformanceDrive provides as much detail and coverage as possible for your interpretation and enjoyment."

6.7? I dont know about that. Are they running in 105 degree weather with air conditioning on with baby kangaroos in the back seat. If 6.7 were the real number on that given day there are so many variables that can effect performance. It may just be my eyes but it looks like the ground level is different in some of those videos too. Trying to do 0-60 on a slight incline is not too smart. You cant take all those different videos that were not tested on the same exact day and compare them. All I know is where i am located, at sea level, with the small measly mods I did to the car I hit 0-60 in mid 5 second. The stock wheels on this car are so heavy just changing to lighter weight wheels wake this car up considerably.

Well, first of all this 3.5 engine's peak power is at 6400 rpm so there is no point to shift at redline. Second of all, I think they tested in auto mode, so why it shift way below redline? Maybe you should Lexus engineer why they program it that way. However, in the video GS350 did shift near redline, just IS350 and RC350 shift little early. One last observation, just realized GS350 is 6-speed, no wonder it has identical 0-100km/h times as IS350.
