Installed the Tanabe Strut Bar. Pretty straight forward install. In my opinion, on this car before the install I would get a lot of lean and wobble on bumps and turns. Now the car is noticeably stiffer and it feels even more solid and stable. For $125 this is a great upgrade. I left off my engine cover, but it can be left on too.
Is is possible to reinstall the engine cover below/above the just installed Tanabe strut bar on the RCFsport? Your comment suggests this, but is there really enough room to do this. I would love to install the strut but am concerned about reinstalling the engine cover afterwards.
Thanks, ljdarby

You dont remove the engine cover to install it. My engine over was already removed. There is plenty of room to leave it on.
Does this void the car's warranty with lexus? or is this something they will look past?
Only if they can prove said modification caused said part to fail. Then they can void your warranty only on parts which failed due to said modification.
So, if your suspension fails and they can prove that this mod caused it, then yes they can void your warranty on said part (I don't see that happening, I'm just saying). But if your paint starts peeling off, then they still have to honor the warranty on your paint.
I wouldn't worry about anything being voided with a mod like this. They may try to refuse to honor a warranty if it's reasonable to assume that a mod would have caused the failure. In cases like that I would guess you would have to take them to court and try to prove that they are wrong (if they are wrong)? I've never encountered a situation like that. But most likely your time and money would be better spent just paying to have the part fixed yourself in a case like that. Any time that you add forced injection, NOS, or get an aftermarket tune you may as well consider your powertrain warranty void. Simple things like this mod or getting a new exhaust... I wouldn't worry about it. Just take it off before going to the dealer if you're that worried about it.
Does it fit over the 200t engine? You guys should see if you have mounting provisions behind the firewall padding so you can use the stock RC-F support which ties into the firewall. This mod may help but not as much as the firewall brace.
I must admit I've seen these for 30 years, but never understood exactly which forces they resist?
I understand that the upward bend is needed to clear the engine etc., and that the attachment is limited to the strut/shock mount etc. for convenience and ease of install.
Thinking of the struts themselves, under hard cornering loads do they:
1. try to separate (move away from each other laterally)?
2. try to close up (opposite)?
3. try to assume a different angle (cross up) between the strut axes?
Anyone have an explanation, link etc. (no, not an explanation of how suspension works).
Thanks.
All directions. Movement is dynamic depending on what the car is trying to do. The goal of any hard points/ suspension mounting points is to not move. In any direction. All car bodies have some degree of flex to them. Strengthening car bodies, particularly any points that involve suspension component, is ideal for optimum performance. The less movement the better.
