Default Maintenance

Hey guys when buying the Rc350 or other lexus (asuming new). Do we need to purchase any of the maintenance packages at the time we sign the papers? Or just saying no to the offer is the best way, since its a new car and covered by warranty and would you save anything by getting the basic maintainance package they offer?

By purchasing the maintenance packages when signing papers, you are basically pre-paying for all the services. You are mainly paying for the inspections, changing oil and filter every 10K miles, changing air filters, and topping off fluids, but they don't include wear-and-tear items like brakes and rotors. You are better off not buying it since the 15K, 25K, 35K, and 45K services are pretty much useless because they are mainly inspections and rotating tires (useless if you have staggered wheels). I skip them because it usually runs a couple hundred dollars for pretty much nothing. Skipping them doesn't void warranty because no major services are being performed.

You are better off saying no and choosing services you want performed on your car. Dealers also tend to have coupons/discount on services anyways.
