Default Manual (physical) Key Fail

Will the manual key able to unlock the car if the car battery is disconnected or completely dead? I tried this today and failed. I inserted it behind the driver side handle and turned it cc and ccw with no luck. Now I'm wondering if the lock mechanism to the latch is broken or does it require some power from the car battery to even work? I have a 2016 Lexus RC.

Try WD40 on the keyhole and wait a bit. The keyholes are known to getting sticky over time due to non use.

yes it works without battery. Door handle and trunk are manual mechanism. If you have dirt caked in there or you havent fully inserted the key into the hole it will have issues. By fully inserted I mean its in there to the point that you can barely grasp the key with your thumb and index finger. The plastic portion of the key will be facing downwards

Do NOT spray standard WD40 in a lock mechanism! Make sure you use a lock-specific spray like 3-in-1 Lock Dry Lube.

Tried lubricating and turning the key but was limited to about 80 degrees (normal?) in each direction and failed. I called a a locksmith and with the help of an air wedge, he snaked a 5th wheel pin puller between rear end of the driver's window/ weather stripping and J-hooked the door handle. One day I'm gonna have to open up the door moldings to see whats going on.

It takes a lot of leverage to turn the key, doesn't help there isn't much of a grip on the key. Mine took a few tries but I was able to open the doors and trunk with it.

I was able to get the trunk open with the manual key hoping to fold down at least one of the back seats. Oh well.

I wrote a cheat sheet to carry on my phone:

Lexus manual locks - 2022 RC F-Sport

Driver's door - pull handle out, insert key with tunnel up and turn CW or CCW. Remove key, door is now manually unlocked. If the main battery is healthy, the gas door unlocks too.
Trunk - insert key with tunnel forward and turn key CCW or CW, trunk will unlatch. Hint: open trunk lid first and clean the key area - practice a few times. The lock is far left next to the license light.

Do a test run with the fob far enough from the vehicle so it is not detected - simulating a fob with a dead battery.
Carry a charged start battery in the trunk incase the main battery fails.
And check the spare tire pressure = 60 PSI.
