Angry Lexus Rotor Issues

Recently had the Rotors changed, clunking noises, squealing etc. I took the car back to the dealership only to be told there are problems with Lexus rotors and they would change them again.

2nd time around still clunking, sounds like there is a problem with the front axle, forward / reverse, clunk clunk, reverse parking, turn steering wheel left then right, clunk clunk clunk.

Go back to the dealership and was told there is nothing they can do, apparently it is the Lexus rotors that have problem, on the invoice I received, the dealership has written that the tolerances are all wrong on the rotors.

I made an official complaint to Lexus, they said they would launch and investigation as this should not be happening and they could not believe that I was told the tolerances are all wrong, I emailed the invoice to Lexus.

A couple of days later a phone call received from Lexus to advise that they investigated the matter, by this they mean they called the dealership, they then proceeded to repeat to me what the dealership said to them which is, there are problems with Lexus rotors and if a solution is ever found I will be contacted.

I said to them that this is ridiculous and I cannot believe I am hearing such nonsense, the girl who apparently was holding the investigation said she doesn't know anything as she is not technically trained, she is just telling me what she was told by the dealership.

I said, you call this an investigation? you admit you have no technical knowledge and know nothing about brakes and rotors, so therefore, you took my phone, called the dealership and called me back to say there is nothing you can do? She said yes that's right, according to Lexus, this is an investigation, that's customer service!!!!

I said, I was planning on selling the car, now due to what has been done to it and the noises it is making I will more than likely be offered 10k or 20k less for the car as any buyer is going to think there is something wrong with it, according to Lexus, that's my problem, they are not interested.

So, has anybody else changed rotors or have this issue with Lexus rotors and incorrect tolerances?

What year/model vehicle? You may want to check that forum to see if others are having the same issue, and if so, what the outcome was.

Get aftermarket brakes. Lexus OE rotors have always been problematic

Would be good to post in the RC200t/300/350 forums to see if someone else had similar issues? A mod can assist with moving the thread to the forum. I own an IS350 F-Sport as well, which has the same brakes that RC350 F-Sport has and never had any issues,

Hopefully a mod will move this thread to the correct forum. This is the V8 forum and our brakes are much different.

I've never had any rotor issues out of any Lexus. ES (2), IS , or my 2015 RC-Fsport.
News to me?

Wow, replaced mine with OEM rotors in 2019 and never had problems. Is this a batch issue?

What do they mean about, that the tolerances are all wrong on the rotors? The ones they installed new?

File a Dispute if you paid by credit card.

I suspect dealer incompetence. I don't let the dealer touch my brakes anymore. First time when I owned a Toyota 4Runner and knew nothing about repairing cars, had the dealer replace front rotors (they used aftermarket to keep costs down), flush fluid, replace rear drum cylinders, front rotors started grabbing after 1 yr. Learned how to do them myself, installed slotted Brembo's w/ perf pads and had smooth, vibration-free braking for 9 yrs (sold the car). When I bought my '03 LX470 CPO in 2006, dealer installed new pads. Brakes started grabbing soon. Replaced rotors w/ slotted ART cryo frozen rotors and perf pads, which lasted 18 yrs (replaced the pads a few times) until I recently changed them. Installed Stoptech rotors and SS hoses on LS430 (OEM ones lasted 18 yrs w/ no issues), aftermarket pads. Braking is amazing. Now just installed a Stoptech big brake kit plus new rear rotors and new SS hoses on the LX470. Braking is amazing. I torque every fastener according to spec in the factory service manual. Oh, when I replaced the LX470 rotors in 2006, I discovered the dealer had over-torqued the locknut on one side was torqued so tight, it was difficult to turn the rotor. Must have massively reduced fuel economy! Supposed to be like 8-15 lbs, but it was more like 30+ lbs! Experiences like this is why I don't trust the dealer for brakes. Also they charge a lot. Wanted $450 to flush the brakes. I did it for $15 (3 cans) of OEM fluid and had a helper pump the brake pedal.

Are these OEM replacements 1 or 2 piece rotors? Some owners have reported clicking/ clunking noises with the 2 piece (F-sport) rotors.

Try advics which should be the OEM counterpart to OE. Meyle also makes a great option which i've personally used on an IS200T F sport (same brakes as 1piece 350)

used w/ textar pads, excellent stopping power and silent and smooth. i used to run them extremely hard. zero issue
