Photoshop Guide
There are videos on youtube that give tutorials on how to do some easy stuff, but I can't find the video that answers the question that I have.
Basically, I want to know how to change a cars color from the shine/gloss to a flat/matte color. I also would like to know, how to save a color. Lets say you find a color that you like from a different car in a photo, and want to test out that color and save it for future use. How would you do that?
I'm not sure how many people here have or use photoshop, but if you guys can help me with this, it will be much appreciated.
I'm an artist (was an art major, not anymore), and so when it comes to customizing and being creative, I'm pretty good at it. But I don't know if the image I have in my head, will be the exact same thing when it is actually complete, you know?
So, with that said, can anyone here help?
This thread will basically be used to have guides to help other members also, and the original post will constantly be updated with new information/tutorials.
Thanks.
I know photoshop, not sure about the matte part but sure I can help you out, but I'm on holiday right now, will come back at 22nd.
I did some tutorials btw, check them out for now.

Secondly, if you aren't willing to experiment or take the time to thoroughly read guides then that is just you being lazy. You can't really expect someone to drop exactly what you are looking for in your lap. As an artist, it really irritates me when people come at things from your angle. Be a real artist, and use your imagination and dedication to obtain the results you want..
Lastly, you say you want a flat/matte color, so in order to obtain that, you would need to remove all of the gloss and reflections from the paint. There are many ways to do that, and it is easy to find tutorials via Google.
To answer your second question.. you can always create a duplicate layer of any color combo that you really like, and leave it hidden. Then you can modify the original layer and you won't lose the one that you like. Just rinse and repeat as many times as needed.

Thanks.
if you want to save a color, you use the eyedropper tool and pick the color.
then go to Window>Swatches, and there you can add the color to the color palette for future use.
matte color can be done using the blur tool. either Gaussian or motion blur will do the trick. sometimes you'll have to touch up by hand with 100% blur strength.
play with the sliders until you have your desired effect.
if it's not matte enough, copy and paste the area into a new layer and apply more blur to that.
mark off your space with the lasso tool, then apply the blur. don't cross edges and creases. you only want to blur away the reflections.
use the History tool to undo mistakes.
gloss red to matte red, and desaturated to matte black:
